Metro police arrested three men early Thursday morning for allegedly robbing a Mapco store clerk at gunpoint.

Police arrested Dale Waggoner, Tiwon Harvell and Deonte Davis on aggravated robbery charges following the 1:30 a.m. holdup of the Mapco at 5400 Old Hickory Boulevard.

Sgt. Joshua Blaisdell saw a silver SUV driven by Harvell, 29, shortly after it left the scene of the holdup, according to police. Blaisdell followed the SUV, which didn’t stop until it hit a tree at Old Hickory Boulevard and Bell Road.

Police said Harvell fled but was caught not long afterward. Waggoner and Davis, 27, remained in the SUV where police said they found a handgun in the floorboard and a carton of cigarettes stolen in the robbery.

Waggoner, 28, of Hickoryview Drive, previously has been convicted of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, domestic assault, theft and drug possession, according to police. He is being held on $105,000 bond.

Harvell was on parole for a 2006 attempted second-degree murder conviction. He also has been convicted of drug and weapon possession charges. He’s held in lieu of $110,000 bond.

Davis is being held in lieu of $90,000 bond. Davis and Harvell are both of Dodson Chapel Road.
