Police arrested convicted felon after two-hour manhunt

Metro police arrested convicted felon Deshon Burleson following a two-hour manhunt Thursday morning near the Edgehill public housing development.

According to police, the 25-year-old Burleson was wanted on multiple charges including a felony when West Precinct officers learned that he might have been in a Hillside Avenue apartment Thursday morning.

When police went to he apartment to see if Burleson was there, Burleson allegedly climbed out onto the roof of the apartment building, jumped to the ground and ran, prompting a door-to-door search in the 1400 block of Hillside Avenue.

He was later spotted hiding under a tarp in front of one of the apartments and was arrested without incident.

At the time of his arrest, Burleson was wanted for felony aggravated assault, domestic assault, probation violation, failure to appear in court, evading arrest and criminal impersonation, was on the West Precinct’s most wanted list.

Police have charged Burleson with pulling a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol on his 33-year-old girlfriend during a domestic fight at her Antioch home. He has a lengthy arrest history and conviction record with the latest conviction coming in December 2010 on of felony cocaine possession for which he received a two-year probated sentence.
