South Precinct officers Tuesday afternoon charged Terrence Moore with the fatal shooting of his great aunt, Roberta Roland.
Metro Nashville Police Department officials said the officers took Moore, 41, into custody at Whitfield Park on Edmondson Pike on the city's south side after the suspect contacted police Tuesday afternoon and confessed.
Moore is charged with criminal homicide in the fatal shooting of Roland, 88. Her body was discovered Monday inside the 40th Avenue home that she shared with Moore.
Moore phoned West Precinct detectives Tuesday afternoon and told them he was driving to the park where he planned to end his own life. After being notified, South Precinct officers quickly located Moore sitting inside a minivan at the park where he surrendered to officers.
