Staff reports

Police Monday afternoon said they expected to charge a convicted felon with attempted murder and especially aggravated robbery in Saturday night’s drunken altercation outside of an Edmonson Pike bar.

Morgan Roa, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest during the incident, is expected to be arrested following his release from a hospital.

Metro police believe Roa, 29, beat one man and shot another shortly before midnight Saturday outside the Time Out Bar at 5513 Edmondson Pike.

According to police, Roa drove into the bar’s parking lot in a white Cadillac with loud music playing, when Ryan Tillman, 29, who had just left the bar, started dancing to Roa’s music.

That led to Roa and Tillman exchanging words, before Roa allegedly got out of his car and beat Tillman with a pistol.

Police said a friend of Tillman, 28-year-old Christopher Martin, got his own gun from his vehicle and tried to intervene. Martin told police that Roa pointed a gun at him, before they both shot at each other.

Martin suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his head. Roa was hit in the chest. Both men were expected to recover.

Police said all three men had been drinking prior to the shooting.

Roa was free on $33,500 bond following an October arrest for aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, vandalism and driving on a revoked license. He has previous convictions for felony aggravated assault, unlawful gun possession and DUI.

Wonder if any of these criminals had a carry permit? Probably not!

Well a simple search of the public registry suggest that Christopher may indeed be a permit holder. Could be a different Christopher, but looks about right.

The internet...wave of the future!

1- I'll bet that there was NO music, but (C)RAP playing and then had a bunch of that stupid ass BASS BOOM BOOM CRAP BLASTING!! I swear, I'd love to oblige these IDIOTS, If they love the BOOM so much, then drop an M-80 in their car! GIVE THEM SOME BOOM! Hey, it would be sooo convienient for everybody all around, REALLY! The moment the M-80 goes BOOM, they would hear it in their heads for the rest of their days (They should just LOVE that) and "WE" DON'T HAVE TO HEAR IT ANYMORE!! See what I mean? 2- If their not streetgang, then they OBVIOUSLY want to act it and I'm sure they dress the part too. So, it's simple. Round up ALL streetgang members AND wanna b's and put them in a STEEL walled round room with NO WAY OUT and a supply of AK's and ammo...Let them kill each other and then "WE" WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM ANYMORE!!! SIMPLE!!

sidneyames since only 1 guy will be charged it would be safe to assume the other guy had a permit.

yucchhii... you logged on to rant and rave about some music? I hate to hear some one blasting their radio's also but to have it bother me that much. You might need some counseling or some one you could talk to.

Tennessee law states that if you have a carry permit that you CANNOT consume alcohol while carrying a weapon. If you do consume alcohol and get caught carrying a weapon it's treated the same as if you don't have a permit at all...and you lose (on the spot) your carry permit which is confiscated by the arresting officer that's going to likely physically take you to jail.

Regardless, I doubt that either of these people had legal carry permits.

What you have here is a classic case of someone out looking for trouble, and someone finding it.

It's a shame that people can't go out and have a good time without being accosted by a punk thug. Even if they do decide to go to a place as scummy as Time Out. But, the truth is, if you hang out places where people like that congregate, you're subject to be involved directly or indirectly in that kind of situation.

First of all I would like to put out there thats theres two sides to every story. Police never gave my husband a chance to say ANYTHING before trying to put him as guilty (morgan roa). I was there that night and let me just say, never believe what u hear because they over exagerate things! I am very upset because clearly you guys are judging by he said she said! My husband has been in that hospital bed for a month in CRITICAL CONDITION! And its not fair at all so im willing to speak for him since he didnt get his side out. Of course those other two guys will put the blame on my husband first because obviously they dont want to face theor consequences for their actions! But I no it will all clear up soon and yall will no the truth. We also didnt enter the bar nor did we blast music ,wow its crazy what people wpuld make up these days.
