Metro police have identified the man killed Friday morning when his car was torn in half when he struck a utility pole near Bell Road at Brook View Estates.
Moises Rivera, 32, of North Ninth Street, was driving a 2000 Honda Accord along Bell Road at 7 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a utility pole, police said.
Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed was likely a contributing factor, police said.
