Police ID north Nashville shooting victim

Metro Police are searching for as many as three suspects who fatally ambushed 20-year-old Ernest Eugene Smith on the front porch his north Nashville home.

Police say Smith was shot multiple times outside his home just after he arrived home around 12:30 a.m.

The victim's father, who was sleeping inside, came outside when he heard gunshots. His son died in his arms.

The suspect is described only as a black man wearing dark clothing, police said.

This is the second fatal shooting in north Nashville this week. A father returned to his Bordeaux home early Tuesday morning to find his 23-year-old son shot death inside the house.
