Metro police have identified the woman who died in an early morning car crash as 38-year-old Rhonda C. Perez, of Greeneville, Tenn.
Perez, according to police, was driving west on Elm Hill Pike at Air Lane Drive around 2:45 a.m. Monday when her car crossed over the eastbound lanes and hit a concrete culvert. Perez wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
Police said they found a bottle of prescription painkillers inside the car, as well as a small amount of what they believed to be marijuana.
A toxicology test to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash is underway.
