East Precinct detectives believe a man who robbed a Springfield Walgreens is the same man who demanded painkillers at a Dickerson Pike CVS Pharmacy 40 minutes earlier.

Police said the man who walked into the pharmacy at 3048 Dickerson Pike around 12:30 Monday afternoon but left empty-handed is the same man caught on video surveillance in Springfield. He is described as a white man with brown hair and a thin mustache who appears to be in his 20s or early 30s.

Police said he is about 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. At the time of the CVS robbery attempt he wore a gray T-shirt, jeans, a red baseball cap and a short necklace with large white beads.

Those with information are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or East Precinct detectives at 862-7525.
