One of two men believed responsible for the beating death of Tommy Lee Perkins outside of the Ravin Motel early Tuesday Morning is in custody.
Justin Dexter Brummett, 20, of Honeysuckle Road, was charged with criminal homicide after police said they received calls from concerned citizens pointing to Brummett’s involvement in the murder.
Brummett was arrested Wednesday afternoon, and according to police, admitted to hitting Perkins. They believe Brummett and another suspect confronted Perkins before repeatedly punching and kicking him in the head.
Robbery may have been a motive as police said the two suspects took money from Perkins, though it doesn’t appear Perkins knew his attackers.
A group of people walking by around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday found Perkins’ body on Artic Avenue near Brick Church Pike, off the motel property where he lived.
Brummett is jailed on $75,000 bond. Police continue to look for the second suspect.
