Metro Police have a man in custody they say took more than toys home from an adult novelty store in Madison.

Charles Grant, 34, of Seymour Avenue is accused of robbing Jenna’s Toy Box at 2531 Dickerson Pike at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say the suspect allegedly indicated to the clerk that he had a weapon and demanded cash from the register. The clerk complied, and Grant fled in a maroon Chevrolet Lumina.

East Precinct Officer Ian Herlein spotted the suspect vehicle late Monday in the 1100 block of Litton Avenue. Grant, who now faces aggravated robbery charges, was taken into custody without incident.

He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.

Grant was sentenced to 15 years in 1994 for two attempted aggravated robbery and two aggravated robbery convictions. He was released in 2007.

In a second case, Richard Bowens, 25, is facing charges stemming from a June 22 robbery in the 1400 block of 10th Avenue North.

Police say the suspect allegedly struck and sexually assaulted a woman during the robbery.

Flex officers took Bowens into custody Monday outside his Ninth Avenue North residence. He is charged with aggravated robbery and sexual battery, and his bond is $150,000.

Bowens was sentenced to seven years in 2002 for robbery and evading arrest. He was released in March.

After 13 years in prison one would think there would be lessons learned. After 7 years in prison one would think there would be lessons learned.

Of course there is no logic to any of this...the learning curve for these two criminals is a parallel line to infinity (and beyond) !!!

some people never learn. i wouldn't doubt they probably had some addictions to support. that definitely affects the learning curve.
