Metro Police are now classifying the March 9 disappearance of Sara Martinez as a homicide investigation.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jose Morano, the last person known to have been with Martinez, police said.

Martinez, 20, was last seen March 9 at Club Guadalajara on Old Hickory Boulevard in south Nashville. She was reported missing by a friend on March 15.

Police say DNA tests confirm a significant amount of blood found in the suspect's abandoned Toyota Carolla was from Martinez. The car was abandoned on Allied Drive off Nolensville Road on March 24.

Extensive efforts by Cold Case Detective Hugh Coleman, the police department’s missing person coordinator, to locate both Martinez and Morano over the past five months have been unsuccessful.

Morano has not been seen at his apartment complex since March 9, police said. He never returned for his belongings.

Police say Martinez may have fled the Nashville area and returned to Honduras.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. Spanish speaking operators are available and a cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered.
