Police identified the woman found in overgrown abandoned Woodbine lot Wednesday as 27-year-old Allison Monique Davis.
A worker at a nearby business found Davis’ decomposing body at 2306 Wickson Ave. around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near Nolensville Pike south of Interstate 440. Fingerprints were used to identify Davis, who had no identification on her when her body was found.
An autopsy indicated that Davis had been shot, but South Precinct Cmdr. Mike Alexander said it was too early in the investigation to tell if she was murdered some place else and left in the overgrown lot.
Police believe her body had been at the lot for several days, a factor that is challenging the investigation into her death, Alexander said.
Family members told police Davis lived in Madison earlier this year but they were unsure where she had been staying recently.
Police asked anyone who has seen Davis over the past two weeks or has information regarding her death to call the South Precinct Investigations at 862-7763.
