Metro police say an Antioch man has confessed that he was responsible for his wife’s death, one week after she was found dead in her home.

Manisha Kratochvil 32, was found dead in her bedroom on March 2 by her mother. Police say that during questioning on Wednesday, John Kratochvil, 42, told investigators that he killed his wife in the early hours of March 2.

John Kratochvil told police he traveled to South Carolina on the weekend of March 1, but returned to Nashville early on March 2, the report said. According to police, Kratochvil killed his wife then ransacked part of the home to make it appear as if a burglar was responsible. Police say Kratochvil told them he then went back to South Carolina. Investigators say he was there when they made contact with him on March 2.

The couple’s two children, ages 3 and 6, were in the home with their grandmother at the time of Manisha Kratochvil’s death and were unharmed, police say.

John Kratochvil was set to be booked Wednesday night on a charge of criminal homicide.
