Police say thieves are turning their attention to a new target — GPS units left in parked cars.
Just last week, five auto burglaries were reported Friday morning at the Franklin Oaks Apartment Complex on Royal Oaks Boulevard, according to Franklin Police. In each incident, burglars broke vehicle windows to get GPS units.
Police say it's not uncommon for thieves to drive through parking lots where a large number of vehicles are parked, such as a shopping center and apartment complex parking lots.
The No. 1 thing people can do to protect themselves from being the victims of auto burglary is to remove valuables from parked cars, police said.

My GPS was stolen in East Nashville. My new one requires a pin number when I turn it on. I still hide it though.
