Police search for man wanted in Thompson Lane bank robbery

Police are searching for man believed to be responsible for robbing the Wachovia Bank Branch at 618 Thompson Lane Thursday afternoon.

The suspect entered the bank at 3:30 p.m., told the teller he wanted to make a withdrawal, then showed the teller and gun and demanded cash, according to Metro police. After the teller complied, the suspect fled on foot, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 50s, who is approximately 5'9" and weighs roughly 220 pounds. He committed the bank robbery wearing a short sleeved golf shirt, exercise pants, sunglasses and a dark ball cap, police said.
