Metro Police Department officials said Tuesday Hermitage Precinct detectives are pursuing strong leads as they work to identify the person(s) responsible for the stabbing death of a woman found Monday afternoon inside a Mufreesboro Pike apartment complex.

The victim, Vickie Webb, 19, who is believed to have been the resident in the Altamont Point complex at 860 Murfreesboro Pike, had been dead for a number of days. Due to decomposition, positive identification will be made through dental records. An autopsy Tuesday revealed that the victim suffered stab wounds.

Webb’s family had not heard from her in several weeks, police said. Her apartment rent was two months overdue, multiple rent notices from management had gone unanswered and the electricity to the apartment was turned off. Maintenance staff from the apartment complex found the body at 3:30 p.m. Monday after using a passkey.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Johnny Crumby or Detective Andrew Injaychock at 862-7727 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
