Staff reports

Metro police were working to identify the driver who they said caused a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning on Whites Creek Pike.

The female was burned beyond recognition after the Oldsmobile she was traveling in crossed the double yellow line and crashed head-on into a Toyota at around 1:45 a.m. The Oldsmobile burst into flames and was fully engulfed when officers arrived at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota received noncritical injuries and was transported to Skyline Medical Center.
