Population growth demands regional planning

Recently released census figures show that the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), comprised of Davidson and seven surrounding counties, grew more than any other area of Tennessee during the 1990s. Although Davidson County grew by 11.6 percent, the other seven counties making up the MSA grew far more.

In 1990, Davidson County had 36,500 more people than the combined population of the seven surrounding counties
