Staff reports

Officials with the Nashville Electric Service expect momentary power outages at their Demonbreun substation this week, as early morning blasting continues at the construction site for the new convention center.

The outages shouldn't last more than a few seconds, according to Tim Hill, an NES spokesman. But with the tremors caused by the blasting of rock formations at the Music City Center construction site, the NES substation typically sees some minor disruption of service.

The general area that will be affected is from 1st to 7th avenues, and from Church to Demonbreun streets.

Workers at the site begin blasting at 6 a.m. and are usually finished within the hour, Hill said. The last time blasting occurred at the site was April 27.

Silly me! After the flood and over a billion dollars in damage, you would think the convention would be put on hold for a few years...
