A Catholic priest was booked Wednesday on three counts of sexual battery against a female worker at the Nolensville Pike church where the two worked.
The charges against Luis Garcia-Barreto followed a grand jury indictment. Garcia-Barreto, 52, surrendered at police headquarters Wednesday after learning of the indictment, police said.
The investigation by detectives on the Metro police Sex Crimes unit alleges that the priest groped and inappropriately touched the 49-year-old woman on three occasions.
Garcia-Barreto was released from jail after posting an $85,000 bond.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where the two worked, is located at 3112 Nolensville Pike, south of Thompson Lane.
I am Shocked beyond "belief"! A Catholic priest ! (LOL) At least this time is was not a little boy!
Once again we see the rotten fruits of the absurd policy of celibacy.
Married clerics would not end all problems but would certainly go a long way towards it. Maybe someday Christianity will stop hating our God-given sexuality.
My surprise is that it is a woman. He needs to get out of the Church and find a wife.
