Session ends with barebones budget

In a mass of noisy demonstrators, the 102nd General Assembly passed a barebones budget Thursday night and dismissed themselves.

They passed a budget that uses three years worth of windfall tobacco settlement money to get through fiscal 2001-2002.

The Senate, which had tried to promote a last-minute auto tag tax, circled around the House
