Firefighters were unable to determine the cause of smoke coming from the second floor of the A.A. Birch Criminal Justice Building this morning.
A spokesperson for the Metro Nashville Fire Department said firefighters responded to a call from the Birch building at about 9 a.m. today to find smoke coming from an undetermined location on the second floor.
No fire could be found after searching bathrooms, courtrooms and electrical panels, though fire department spokesperson Charles Shannon did say firefighters did detect the "smell of something burning."
Shannon said eventually the smoke cleared up on its own and employees and the public were allowed to return to the building.
