If the Nashville Sounds want a chance at a second consecutive Pacific Coast League championship, figuring out a way to beat the Memphis Redbirds is imperative.

Nashville plays its cross-state rival 16 times this season, and so far the Sounds have lost three of those meetings, including a 5-1 defeat at Greer Stadium on Thursday. Memphis took three of four from Nashville (42-37) to win the series.

The Redbirds (32-46) are not an imminent threat to the first-place Sounds, but the Iowa Cubs are. Nashville
