Speeding traffic concerns Bellevue business owners

Businesses along Old Hickory Boulevard near Bellevue are concerned about speeding on the four-lane highway and are seeking help from Metro officials to install caution and stop lights.

The stretch of road of interest runs from Highway 70 to Interstate 40.

Metro Public Works does not know how many cars use the boulevard daily, but local businessman Gary Satyshur has been keeping track on his own. Satyshur, who owns the Amoco gas station on Old Hickory says there have been 1,100 accidents, 12 involving fatalities, on Old Hickory Boulevard since 1997.
