Nashville Kats coach Pat Sperduto will be in the Boston, Mass., area Thursday and Friday for the funeral of his mother.

She passed away early Wednesday morning after a long illness. Sperduto will be on the sidelines Friday when the Kats (5-2) face the Florida Bobcats (3-3) at the Gaylord Entertainment Center at 7:30 p.m.

Sperduto announced Wednesday that the Kats have waived wide receiver-defensive back Corey Kelley to make room for Dale McGee, a defensive specialist.

Kelley, a rookie who was injured in preseason, had been inactive for games at Orlando and against Houston. He was not on the roster of the Los Angeles game. Sperduto expects Houston to pick up Kelley.

McGee was obtained in a trade for Jason Bratton earlier in the season, but he was playing for the Los Angeles Xtreme in the now-defunct XFL and then took time off to get married. McGee has been practicing for a couple of days but is not expected to be ready for the Florida game.
