
Jobs for Tennessee Graduates, a program formed through a partnership between the state departments of Education and Labor and Workforce Development, has netted the national Five of Five Award, according to information from the state.
The award recognizes the program for exceeding its stated goals and for making progress with graduation and success rates. It was slated to be presented at a national Jobs for America’s Graduates conference.
JTG is designed to help disadvantaged kids graduate from high school and secure high-quality jobs. Participants develop employment skills through classroom instruction, community orientation and career association activities.
In 2008, 97 percent of JTG participants graduated from high school.
