Ron Bargatze remembers the basketball game played in Nashville Dec. 4, 1964, as if it was played last week.

With the memory of an elephant, Bargatze can recall all the hoopla surrounding the big clash between city-college rivals Belmont and Lipscomb played before a standing-room-only crowd and televised locally by WSM-Channel 4.

He knows fellow-guard Charlie Meisel, who is still in the record book (along with their teammate Marlin Alsup), made the first basket. And that the team known as the Rebels back then was off and running to an 82-56 rout that came on the heels of the Rebels
