Teacher faces drug possession charges

A Metro Nashville middle school teacher is facing a handful of drug charges stemming from an incident Sunday night in Wilson County.

Jeffrey Chafin, a math teacher at Margaret Allen Middle School, was arrested Sunday night in Mt. Juliet on charges of public intoxication, possession of crystal methamphetamine for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Metro Schools spokesperson Noelle Mashburn said Chafin has been placed on administrative leave.

He was released from the Wilson County Jail on Monday.
