Metro Police say a 17-year-old is allegedly to blame in the shooting of two employees Tuesday outside Hair World at 500 Gallatin Pike.

The two workers told police they confronted Alfonso Phillips at 6 p.m. outside the business because they suspected he stole items from the store. Phillips allegedly fired shots at both employees, striking one in the left side of her face and the second in his leg, police said. Both sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Phillips is being charged in Juvenile Court with two counts of attempted criminal homicide.

An East Precinct officer spotted Phillips, who was in possession of a handgun, a short time later walking on North 16th Street near Ordway Place. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Police say witnesses positively identified Phillips, of Spring Branch Drive, as the alleged shooter.
