A teenage driver in southeast Nashville has a good excuse for missing class Tuesday — she crashed into a school bus en route to school.
The bus driver told WSMV the student was driving on the wrong side of Burkitt Road. She said she swerved to avoid the car, but hit the front corner of the teen's car.
The crash happened early in the 7 o'clock hour, and the teen said the morning sun was in her eyes.
The 17-year-old driver was taken to Southern Hills Medical Center with minor injuries.
Metro Nashville Public Schools spokesperson Noelle Mashburn said no children were on the bus.
The driver had just dropped off students at Cane Ridge High School and was about to start the elementary route, Mashburn said.
