Donquise Alexander pleaded guilty Thursday morning in connection to the July 2010 Salemtown murder of 14-year-old Vincent Lewis.

Alexander, 16, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and is expected to serve 100 percent of a 30-year prison sentence, according to a district attorney spokeswoman. Alexander was also 14 years old at the time of the murder.

According to district attorney’s office, Lewis, Alexander and two other teens were outside an apartment building at Sixth Avenue North on the afternoon of July 8, 2010, talking and smoking marijuana.

Alexander left and returned with a rifle, demanding money and marijuana from Lewis. After a struggle with the gun, Alexander shot Lewis several times, killing him immediately.

The other three boys left and went downtown. A maintenance later man found Lewis’ body and called police. Three-weeks later detectives identified Alexander as the shooter, and his mother soon turned him in to police.

He was later transferred from juvenile court to face the charges as an adult.

That shooting was part of a rash of violent juvenile incidents in the summer of 2010.

Wow. I have no sympathy, but 30 years at 100% for a crime committed at 14 seems harsh. I would have taken my chances with a jury.

I wish there were some way to hold the sperm donor and baby mama accountable, too.

Yeah, that is harsh but I commend the mother for doing the right thing. I know that had to be hard.

The 1st 2 comments made me want to throw up. 30 years at 100% for murder, too harsh? You 2 have got to be kidding me. I bet if it was your 14 year old son that was murdered you would not be satisfied with 30 years. You realize he will be let out of prison to commit more crimes. What if in 30 years he murders your family? You liberals make me sick!

It is very important that his mother and father are sterilized. If a 14 year old has committed murder then the parents are complete failures and society simply cannot risk them bringing another violent felon into the world.
