Metro Police are trying to stitch together clues to help tie suspects to the theft of $400,000 worth of sewing machines from a secured lot on Lebanon Park Circle over the weekend.

Police say thieves made off with at least 700 Singer sewing machines that were apparently locked in a freight storage container at Commercial Cartage. An employee showed police the container that appeared to have signs of forced entry.

The theft of a freight container filled with whiskey from the same location on March 22 is still under investigation, but police wouldn't say the two incidents were connected.

Anyone with information on the sewing machine theft, or anyone who may have knowledge of sewing machines being sold 'on the street,' should contact CrimeStoppers at 74-CRIME.
