The Tennessee Department of Health on Wednesday suspended patient admissions at the third nursing home facility within a two-week period, citing The Cornelia House, a 159-bed licensed facility in Nashville, for numerous violations, including failing to report incidents and follow physician orders.
Heath Department personnel said no specific crackdown is in effect. But according to the Department of Health Web site, only four nursing home facilities in 2006 had been citied for violations prior to Aug. 18, when Claiborne Hughes and Health Center in Franklin was found in violation of state regulations.
And two of the three recent citations have been handed out to nursing facilities located in Nashville. In addition to The Cornelia House, Green Hills Heath and Rehabilitation Center was required to stop admitting new patients on Aug. 29.
