The Nashville office of the National Weather Service is predicting Thursday may bring some modest relief from the recent harsh winter weather.
The forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of rain, mainly before noon. Thursday should be cloudy, with a high near 45.
Thursday night is expected to be cloudy, with a low of about 28. The wind should be between 5 and 10 mph.
Small rant: Last night (Sunday) I was looking for the news at 10:00pm. Despite the snow falling across the midstate, both Ch,4 and Ch. 5 had some other crap on TV other than news. One was football, the other was CSI or some similar type crap. Thankfully, Ch. 2 had enough sense to broadcast a new program at 10:00pm. Add some cute female anchors and I'll watch Ch.2 every night.
I watched WSMV's football game and they had all the school/daycare closing across the bottom of the screen and every other commercial was a weather/news break. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Yea, who needs cute anchors when we have Davis Nolan?
I wasn't aware I had to wait for a commercial break to see the news, which should have been on at 10:00pm. It's why they call it the "ten o'clock news".
Typically when I turn something on TV, if it is not what I'm expecting, I CHANGE THE CHANNEL. Sure, I could have watched 15 minutes of football, but I didn' really want to since I was looking for the weather updates. And for the record, not everyone cares about school and daycare closings.
Working in radio long ago, along with school systems closing updates we would get closing calls from small groups like Miss Emma's Tuesday bridge club, which had four members. It would have been easier for bridge club president to call or email the three other members rather than waste air time.
Miss Emma took her PR wherever she could get it.
So far, the Wednesday storm has been a giant dud. Glad the weather folks caused such a panic to shut down companies and schools early (not that Metro schools needed a legitimate reason to close early). Maybe I'll wake up to this forecasted 1/2 inche sheet of ice all over Nashville, but right now it doesn't look very realistic.

If you take a look at Amy Napier Viteri of Ch-2, you will see not only a woman who is far more than 'cute' but poised, articulate, has great delivery, and deserves far more airtime than she has of late received. She is the only reason I can see to watch Ch-2.
