In a case that pulled at the heartstrings of a north Nashville neighborhood, a Davidson County grand jury has indicted the three teens allegedly responsible for the botched drive-by shooting that killed an innocent 16-year-old girl.

DeAngelo M. Moody, 16, Ortago L. Thomas, 17, and Martez D. Matthews, 17, were indicted Wednesday on one count each of first-degree murder and employing a weapon with intent to kill.

The charges stem from the April 25 death of Loren Johnson, a student at Whites Creek High School, who was sitting in her bedroom reading when a stray bullet pierced the wall of her Chesapeake Drive home and killed her.

Police say the trio intended to shoot an individual walking on the street. Thomas and Moody allegedly fired from the car as they turned onto Chesapeake Drive but missed their target.

The teens, who are all being tried as adults, were arrested in June after nearly two months of investigation.

At the time of the arrests, Police Chief Ronal Serpas said detectives had dedicated hundreds of hours on this case.

“We now know that innocent Loren Johnson was tragically killed by young people who had no regard for firing guns in a populated neighborhood,” he said.

Now that they've been caught and being tried as adults, give them the punishment they deserve - the permanent dirt nap.

Vegas has the odds of these clowns getting released as "poor misguided youth" at 4-1. These guys were just, as the kids say, "keepin' it real homie." I believe there is action to make this a right. "How do you plea? Guilty? Not guilty? or Keepin' it real?"
