Truck passenger fatally shot riding down Haywood Lane

Metro Police detectives are working to identify the person or persons who fatally shot Juan Piedra, 24, early Sunday morning on Haywood Lane.

Piedra, of Gallatin, was the front seat passenger in a Ford F-150 pickup traveling eastbound on Haywood Lane near Hopedale Drive when shots were allegedly fired at the truck from a dark colored SUV at 1 a.m., police said.

Police said the driver of the pickup stopped for help at the Shell station at 198 Haywood Lane when he realized Piedra had been struck by gunfire.

Piedra was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died, police said.

Piedra reportedly got into a heated altercation with two men of Hispanic descent outside the International Ballroom at 4726 Nolensville Pike just before the shooting, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or South Precinct Investigations at 862-7763.

Where does it say he was an illegal alien? Or do you assume anyone of Hispanic descent is here illegally?

Given the part of town where this happened, yes, I was assuming ALL involved were illegal.

No, I do not assume all people of Hispanic-decent are illegal. A good portion of the Hispanics in the Nashville area are Cuban.

I will and have done just that.

The key word here is ILLEGAL. If someone broke into your house, would you feed, clothe, and provide free health care to them? I'll bet you would want them gone. That's exactly what they've done to our country.

These people are here ILLEGALLY so they are CRIMINALS and should get the hell out. It's
simple - come here LEGALLY, learn ENGLISH before you do, and for the love of God,
