Joyce Maudie has every reason to pat herself on the back, but she refuses to do so.
In her fifth season at the helm of the Tennessee State softball program, Maudie has coached the Lady Tigers to a school-record number of wins each of the past two seasons. TSU, a perennial doormat in the Ohio Valley Conference until recently, set the school record last year when it won 21 games.
This past weekend, with just more than half the season still to be played, the Lady Tigers broke that mark with a win over Southeast Missouri. TSU currently stands at 22-12 overall and 3-5 in the OVC.
Maudie and the Lady Tigers are well on their way to a winning overall record and a spot in the OVC tournament, which are their top two goals.
