Update: The suspicious package turned out to be a wooden step ladder wrapped in plastic. The 5:05 and 5:45 p.m. trains ran on schedule, and the 4:20 p.m. train was canceled.

Music City Star trains may be delayed this afternoon due to a suspicious package at the Lebanon Station, Metro Transit Authority officials said.

Lebanon Police are investigating the situation.

The commuter trains sit idle in Lebanon awaiting their morning and afternoon trips to and from Nashville. The suspicious package has delayed the trains’ return to downtown today.

“We expect the trains to be released momentarily for their trip into Nashville to take evening commuters home,” MTA said in a release.

In the event trains are not able to return to Nashville, the MTA has buses ready to transport passengers.

The first buses will depart from Riverfront Station at 5:05 p.m. MTA will continue to shuttle passengers to the outlying train stations as needed.
