The Villager Tavern has been under attack for the past month by vandals who have destroyed more than 300 pictures in a huge collage that covers the walls of the popular Hillsboro Village bar.
Owner Henry Piarrot believes the damage has been done on Friday and Saturday nights when the bar is the most crowded. A customer told Piarrot he recently saw a girl taking pictures off the wall, but she left when she was approached.
"I don't know if it's one person or if it's 10 different people," Piarrot said. "I have no idea, maybe it's just this new college thing, 'Let's do all the damage we can before we graduate.' I don't have a clue what it is; I just know it's never been this way. I've had 10 classes of grad students come through here in the last 10 years and no one has ever vandalized the Villager before."
Piarrot said the "incredible collage," which consists of 13,000 pictures, has never been in danger before. He said in the past when he caught people trying to remove pictures he simply made copies for them and put the originals back on the wall.
