As we take to the outdoors with friends and family this Memorial Day weekend to enjoy meat smoking on the grill, sun shining on our faces, taking dips in the pool and the other finer points of life, let us not forget the men and women who have died on our behalf so that we may enjoy such times. Below are the Tennesseans, including eight from Davidson and four from Williamson counties, who have died serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan compiled from state records and the Associated Press.

(NG) National Guard Davidson and Williamson in bold
As a Citizen, born and raised in Nashville, TN. USA, and as a Army Vetran. I am Humbled this morning after reading every name and praying for all of the Families. I am Grateful to these HEROS who gave their lives for my personal freedom!
A Grateful Nation never forgets.
Simple yet elegant article...thanks City Paper staff.
FIRST I want to point out that I LOVE AND RESPECT ALL our troops and pray for the families who had friends and loved ones that died in these wars. I wish to point out though that from the vietnam war on foward, those of us who served, did not serve to protect the USA, the fought for the politicians and did not realize it. These wars that we fought and are currently fighting are NOT our wars...they are the POLITICIANS wars! The politicians are using the patriotism that a young man has to fight for what THEY WANT! They give lying excuses to bring out the patriotism in us to WANT TO FIGHT! One day, those people who are about to go to war will open their eyes and rebel against the criminlas who are ruining this country!! To "ALL" vets, again, I love and respect you for your heart is where it belongs! God Bless!!!
