Williamson County Sheriff Ricky Headley was one of two individuals arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and Metro Police Wednesday in a prescription drug fraud sting operation, authorities said.

Headley, who was elected sheriff in 2002, had received thousands of potent painkillers without a valid prescription from employees of the Brooks Pharmacy, 4701 Trousdale Dr. in Nashville, Metro Police and TBI said in a written statement.

The owner of the Pharmacy, Glenn Brooks, was also arrested.

Headley was arrested Wednesday afternoon after picking up a bottle of prescription painkillers from the pharmacy.

He was immediately taken into custody and transported to TBI headquarters.

Law enforcement officials said the investigation began more than two years ago when Metro police narcotics detectives and TBI agents received a tip that the pharmacy was dispensing prescription painkillers
