Metro Police say autopsy results show that murder victim Wendy McKinney, 46, who was found dead Wednesday inside a guestroom at the Hampton Inn in Bellevue, had been severely beaten.

Detectives are continuing their efforts to locate William “Billy” Troope, described as McKinney’s ex-boyfriend, who is named in a murder warrant issued Wednesday night.

Police say the two met at a Bellevue restaurant Monday evening and then checked into the Hampton Inn at 7:46 p.m.

Troope left the motel shortly before midnight, but came back to the parking lot during the overnight hours for a time before leaving again, police said. He returned briefly at approximately 7:40 a.m. Tuesday and retrieved his belongings. The “do not disturb” sign was left on the door.

Troope, 50, has a history of domestic violence involving McKinney, police said. He was arrested by Dickson County authorities in August on domestic violence charges. McKinney also had an order of protection to keep Troope away.

Troope, who is a golf caddy by profession, is believed to have been in East Tennessee on Wednesday. He is likely traveling in a turquoise 1994 Ford Crown Victoria bearing Tennessee license number 873-TJT.

Anyone seeing Troope or knowing his whereabouts is urged to immediately contact Nashville’s Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or their local law enforcement agency.

I hope they find this animal quickly. Anyone who can beat another to death is a psychotic and beyond help.

I hope this guy is stopped soon and I
wish she had been the one capable of doing it.

Kinda turns on a new light for the
"take away all the guns" crowd.
