Burch: GOP targets women

Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10:05pm
By Michael R. Burch

As I have pointed out in previous articles, the Republican party has clearly set its sights on groups of disfavored Americans and has been taking legislative potshots at them. Anyone who isn’t a well-heeled white conservative Christian is fair game: homosexuals, Muslims, minorities, union workers, teachers, the elderly, the sick, the unemployed, et al.

The party that claims to follow Jesus Christ is actually practicing social and economic Darwinism: the survival of the strongest and most ruthless at the expense of everyone else. If the GOP has its way, the rich will keep getting richer.

Now the GOP has set its fanatical sights squarely on women. As Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) recently noted, the party of “family values” clearly has “an anti-woman, anti-child agenda” which includes keeping women barefoot and pregnant, and in submission to men, by denying them control over their own bodies and reproductive organs, even if they have been raped or their lives are in danger.

Mitt Romney (R-Mass.), the leading Republican presidential candidate, supports the reversal of Roe vs. Wade.

Ron Paul (R-Texas) recently opined that abortions should only be allowed in cases of “honest rape,” which suggests that the burden is on the victims to prove their innocence.

Chris Smith (R-N.J.) tried to get rape redefined as “forcible rape,” meaning that women would have to show evidence of physical struggles, even though many rapes leave emotional and psychological, rather than physical, scars.

Bobby Franklin (R-Ga.) recently introduced a bill that would call rape victims “accusers” until the defendant is convicted.

If we add such things up, the end result seems clear: women and girls who are the victims of incest and pedophilia will be forced to bear their rapists’ children because they’ll be denied legal abortions. That is, unless the GOP manages to make all abortions illegal, which seems to be the ultimate goal.

And yet this is only the tip of an enormous iceberg that threatens to sink women’s rights. As Rachel Maddow pointed out recently, the GOP is also "waging war on contraception."

Newt Gingrich, a converted Catholic, has voted 72 times against a woman’s right to choose, and is now espousing the “personhood” rights of fertilized eggs, which could make it illegal to use contraceptives.

Rick Santorum, a devout Catholic, not only opposes a woman’s right to choose, but has even spoken publicly about the “dangers of contraception,” saying that using contraceptives is “not okay.” Santorum maintains that states have the right to ban contraceptives.

The fundamental question is whether women have the right to choose if and when to become mothers. The alpha males of the GOP clearly believe the answer is “no.” They have read the Bible, and even though it says nothing about when life begins, or contraceptives or abortions, they still claim to know the mind of God and speak for him.

Even if Moses had issued edicts about contraception and abortion why should American women be forced to bow down to the commandments of a man who said that fathers could sell their own daughters as sex slaves with the option to buy them back if they didn’t “please” their new masters (Exodus 21), and that girls who had been raped should either be stoned to death or sold to their rapists (Deuteronomy 22)?

The GOP is increasingly driven by the white alpha male conviction that white alpha males are meant to dominate and rule the earth. Now they have American women in their sights and keep firing one legislative bullet after another. From time to time those shots hit their marks, and chip away at the hard-won gains of the American women’s rights movement.

I am reminded of the well-known Holocaust poem written by a German pastor, Martin Niemöller, who supported the right-wing alpha males of his day, only to end up in a concentration camp himself. His poem begins “First they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew ... .”

If we want to avoid similar fates, we need to see and understand what the GOP is doing and send these modern barbarians a clear message with our votes, before it’s too late.

Music City615,

No, I don't think all Republicans are the Devil. I was a Reagan Republican. But I have eyes to see, and ears to hear, and I can easily see what is happening to the GOP, which has become the party of the Grand Old Pontiffs.

The problem is that most Republicans act in concert, and because the party has been overcome by its radical right-wingers, the party cannot act rationally any longer. So when someone votes for Republicans, he/she in effect is voting for racism, intolerance and war, and against women's rights, freedom of religion, etc.

Republicans face the problems German conservatives once faced, when right-wing racists and religious zealots and fascists took control of the party and its politics.

The problem is not thinking Republicans, but far too many unthinking Republicans. I don't think all Democrats are political angels, but at least the Democratic party has not launched a full-out assault on women, gays, minorities, the poor, the middle classes, unions, teachers, et al.

The GOP obviously has, and that should be food for thought.

By: Mike Burch on 3/16/12 at 12:08

Treehugger and Moonglow,

I think that if women and men who believe in women's rights join forces, and vote Republicans out of office until they come to their political senses, the chauvinists will either be forced to change their tune or join the unemployment line.

All we have to do is make our voices heard, make sure American women know what the GOP has planned for them, and then vote.

I think that voting for a Republican today is like slitting one's own throat. If they lose enough votes, they will have to change their stone age policies.

Let's make sure we inform everyone we can of what they're really up to, and make sure we all vote.

Mike Burch,

I fundamentally disagree with you.

Are there radical right wingers? YES
Are there radical left wingers who could turn America into Greece? YES

Republicans and Democrats NEED the best of BOTH for America to be AMERICA.

I hate to put the bromance in a state of peril, but I disagree with you about President Obama. I think he is man in a very difficult political position, who is trying to get us out of the current war and avoid starting new ones in Syria and Iran.

But the political realities make this difficult. We have a nation full of "Christians" who breathe fire when the sacred name of Israel is mentioned, and who want to go to war with Iran at the drop of a hat. If President Obama suggests asking Israel to act with justice, millions of "Christians" will call him the anti-Christ and we'll end up with a real warmonger as president: Romney, Gingrich or Santorum.

So he has to act tough on Iran and he has to speak publicly in support of Israel, or he will virtually ensure that we end up at war in Syria and Iran.

The real problem is the American public, which includes millions upon millions of religion-crazed fundamentalists who can't see that Israel is cynically using their religion to keep the US military at its beck and call. Thus, American children become proxy warriors for Israel. Thus, world peace is held hostage so that a few Jewish robber barons can steal a few more acres of land in the West Bank. Is this the wisdom of God, or the folly of man?

But what would happen if Obama or any presidential candidate suggested a sane policy in the Middle East? People boo Ron Paul when he talks about a sane policy in the Middle East. When Santorum, Romney and Gingrich talk about an insane policy, the Christians cheer.

The real problem is Christianity and the fact that people's faith leaves them unable to think clearly and see that we are doing what Rick Santorum recently advocated: marching like good little holy warriors toward the Middle East. But of course Jesus is not going to appear from the clouds to save our children on the battlefield. The whole thing is insane and the result of Christian pastors refusing to be honest about the Bible and its human origins. No loving, wise, just being could have come up with such madness.

Our president is in a very difficult position, and Christians put him there. Praise the Lord and pass the nuclear ammo!

But I think President Obama may outwit the witless, yet. I certainly hope so.

Just read a great bumper sticker that is very apt for our resident loon *ahem*

"Obama is not a foreign born, brown skinned, anti-war socialist that gives away healthcare. YOU'RE THINKING OF JESUS"

Love it.

Lying about extra-marital sex (which 99.9% of all men will do) is a far cry from lying to the American people about Iraq. Going to war, killing 100,000+ civilians. If you do not know the difference, may God save your soul.

By: MusicCity615 on 3/16/12 at 12:49

Mike Burch- "The real problem is Christians"?

Quit being a politically correct POS and realize that it is radical Islam that wants to blow everyone that is not radical off the face of this earth. Wake up

By: jvh2b on 3/16/12 at 12:53

Music -

Yeah cause Muslims want everyone to think they way they do and subjugate everyone to live and believe as they do, and a radical fringe wants to blow non-believers up.

And the Christians want the same thing (ie Santorum) but maybe w/o the whole blowing everyone up (if you take out the Israel equation.)

What's the difference again?

By: Loner on 3/16/12 at 1:21

Music City started out good...talking about secular republicanism...then he went to bat for the, nuclear-armed, apartheid-loving, Jim-Crow-embracing, Jewish State in Palestine.....Oy!

On the Israeli issue, there is almost complete bipartisanship agrrement...here's why:

Corruption is also bipartisan in Washington...they are all on the take, folks...wake up!

Holy Wars Suck!

By: frodo on 3/16/12 at 1:28

Mr. Burch speaks in circles trying to score political points for Democrats by propping up the premise that women cannot afford to let Republicans into the White House. This is a false premise on the order of "Do you still beat your wife?"

Such compassion Mr. Burch has for the downtrodden. And for a brief moment we might even think he has sympathy for the nation of Israel, who lives under constant threa of annihilation by their neighbors—reminding us of the quote, "“First they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew ...” Then demonizing both Jews and "millions upon millions" of Americans "who can't see that Israel is cynically using their religion to keep the US military at its beck and call."

So easily Mr. Burch slides between champion of the oppressed to demonizing so many Americans and turning his back on Israel that I'm not quite sure if he is against fascism or if he just wants it employed in a certain way.

Let's get real about the state of women in the world today. In no place is the denial of women's rights so stark as in those nations that surround Israel with missiles and mortal threat. Mr. Burch, I doubt the women in your family have lived in such a culture that so denegrates women. And I doubt you have ever lived in a state that is constantly surrounded with calls and actions for your destruction. If you had, then you wouldn't spin this classless yarn about religion-crazed fundamentalist Americans standing up for the "Jewish robber barons," and whipping up an issue of women's rights in America—in my opinion to boost the sagging prospects of a failed presidency.

By: Loner on 3/16/12 at 1:30

Mike...the bromance is secure...I think that Obama could have put just a little daylight between the US and the Jewish state...he failed to do so, IMO.

Look for Netanyahu to act unilaterally...when gasoline hits$8/gallon, Obama will be facing a tough re-election bid...that suits Bibi just fine....and if the Iranians retaliate against Israel, Bibi knows that the US Congress will force the CINC to attack the Iranians, whether he likes it or not.....the US public will blame Obama, not the Israeli Prime Minister...President Obama may be snookered by PM Netanyahu ....a Chicago politician is no match for a Big Apple hustler.

Netanyahu and the Likud Party will decide on who will lead the US....they are the dog, we are the humungous tail.

By: MusicCity615 on 3/16/12 at 1:42

I never said all "Muslims", I said radical muslims (which is a small percentage compared the the millions of muslims that love America). There's a difference- Only Radical jihadists fly planes into the WTC killings thousands of innocent people. Before 9/11, 98% of america had NO IDEA who Osama Bin Laden was, nor Al Queda, Taliban- because Americans were not terrorizing muslims!

Do you not find it ironic that the Taliban is using the weapons America supplied them to fight off the Soviets, to fight us? Man, we are some horrible people over here, right Mike Burch?

America has thousands of mosques, there are millions of muslims living freely in America. A man confesses to believing in Christianity in Iran and he's not being put to death. You call that fair?

I guess you can say that Hitler was a radical Christian and he killed millions of Jews, but thousands of other radical Christians in America and Europe fought against and defeated Hitler, so that argument is just bad.

I'm so sick and tired of people forgetting that Al Queda attacked us, they killed thousands of people. Is America perfect? NO. Can we improve? YES

Fighting amongst ourselves is the worst thing we can do.

Mike, I'm sure we will run into each other at the Bill Mayer performance
at TPAC on the 18th, and if I can wade my way through all the Tenn
Atheists Party members in attendance I'll say hello. I'm up in the cheap
seats at $48.00 bucks, but I understand there are lots available in all
price ranges! Sure to be a performance of comedic civility!

By: govskeptic on 3/16/12 at 1:48

Look forward to seeing Mike and many of you at the Bill Mayer performance at
TPAC the 18th. Still lots of tickets available at $48.00 to $68.00 dollars.
Tennessee Atheist Party has snapped up their large allotment already.
Should be a great reflection of comedic civility prepared by his many writers!

Just as fair as the Christian backed faction in Uganda that is promoting a law that would have gays put to death.....

By: jvh2b on 3/16/12 at 2:12

Music - I stand corrected on your comment of Muslims vs radical Muslims.

I still don't see the difference in that both religions are equally intolerant of anyone that doesn't believe the way they do. That being said, I will acknowledge that with true Christians, this is not an issue. They, like the Republican party, have been hijacked by an extreme vocal fringe, that relies on ignorance to further their goals, and that makes them look downright awful. Yet another similarity between the two religions....

It's 4:20 here, on the Erie Canal....beautiful afternoon!

By: Loner on 3/16/12 at 2:25

Ten Turkish soldiers died in a NATO helicopter crash in Afghanistan today....it's a safe bet that those soldiers were Muslims....and they gave their lives to stop Al Qaeda and the Taliban...we tend to forget that Turkey, not Israel, is our true Middle Eastern battlefield ally...the Israelis have never been our battlefield allies...the "ally" claim is Israeli propaganda.

By: yogiman on 3/16/12 at 3:28

Where did you get the idea the Republicans are racists and the Democrats are the best political party in the USA? You must have went to a different school than I. And you certainly was raised in a different time period than I.

What "party" endorsed slavery? What "party" ended slavery by armed force against their fellow Americans and freed the slaves?

I must agree, the democratic party has the best publicists of the groups because after they were freed from slavery, the slaves have basically been democrats.

By: Loner on 3/16/12 at 3:43

Missed the Nashville 4:20.....apparently Yogi the Bear has been indulging in some magic mushrooms, to augment those nuts and "Barry's"....stoned bear syndrome?

By: yogiman on 3/16/12 at 4:37

Are you gonna be shocked when you finally come to the conclusion ol' yogi was right?

Think what you wish about me. I guess we are in different time frames in our minds. When I went in service, I took an oath. I presume you took the same oath as I when you went in the service.

I guess with you joining the Army and I joining the Navy, it was at different times in history and we had different understandings what that oath meant, but for a vet to accept a man as their president and they don't even know their name is like an entirely different history in the making. Barack Obama is a fake it and it's pretty obvious.

And by the way: My $10 to a donut bet is still on. Wanna take it?

By: Loner on 3/16/12 at 6:12

Yogi.....smarter bears than I have pronounced the man to be eligible for the presidency....he won the election...McCain & Palin lost....get over it man....yours is the worst case of soreloseritis that I have ever seen....soon you will have to get over another loss to President Obama...he's gonna whip the Republican's @ss....regardless of who it is...unless the Israelis start a war with Iran between now and November...in that case all bets are off...if gasoline prices go to the $8/gallon range, the US President could lose in November....the birther thing will then be moot, IMO.

By: yogiman on 3/16/12 at 7:24

Sorry, Loner,

Those bears are merely Obama's bears and they are obeying their master like your dog obeys it's master. Common sense should tell you the guy is a fake.

Question: When did a computer formed birth certificate become an official BC from a 1961 birth? Hell, Loner, there's just too much evidence on this guy and as I've noted before, congress allowed it to happen. Haven't you ever wondered why, with so much evidence against him?

By: Mike Burch on 3/17/12 at 2:26

I too wish that President Obama had done more to keep the Israeli tail from wagging the US dog. But the political realities and ignorance of the American public make his job very difficult. There are people in this thread who don't seem to understand what American Christian hubris and warmongering have done in the Middle East, starting with the Nakba of the Palestinians in 1948 and the CIA-engineered coup of Iran in 1953.

In this case the egg of American Christian injustice clearly hatched into the understandable response of certain Islamic extremists. What would Americans have done if some foreign power caused the suffering of millions of American women and children? Obviously, American men would have gone on the warpath, so why be hypocrites and pretend otherwise?

Yet American Christians blame the violence on other religions, rather that looking in the mirror. Who caused the Trail of Tears? Who caused American slavery and the Civil War? Who gave money and weapons to Israel, which used them to cause the suffering of millions of Palestinians? Who overthrew the first democratically-elected government in the Muslim world -- Iran's? Who installed the Shah of Iran as a puppet, leading to the suffering of millions of Iranians? Who then gave money and weapons to Saddam Hussein, leading to the death of a million more Iranians? Who gave money and weapons to Osama bin Laden and the Taliban?

These are the unjust actions of people who claim to believe in the Bible, but do things Jesus Christ would never have done. He saved all his sternest criticism for hypocrites. So what must he think of American Christians, who bully millions of people, then break their teeth if they resist?

And yet American Christians insist that only Islam is the "problem." How amusing that would be, if so many innocents hadn't suffered and died.

I think posts in this thread help explain why President Obama's job is so tough. German Christians denied the Holocaust. American Christians have created and/or contributed to Holocaust after Holocaust. When the victims try to defend themselves, they are "terrorists." But American Christians never see their own acts of terrorism for what they really are.

Was Sitting Bull a terrorist, because he resisted white Christians?
Were slaves who rose up against their Christian masters terrorists?
Are Muslims who oppose Christian dominionism terrorists, or are they trying to avoid becoming serfs to an arrogant, unjust Christian nation?

When Muslims see Americans voting for warmongers like Santorum, Gingrich and Romney, who can blame them for doing what Sitting Bull did?

By: Mike Burch on 3/17/12 at 2:36

For everyone who damns Islam, I suggest that they take the time to study the REAL history of the Middle East, beginning with Winston Churchill's stint as Colonial Secretary in the early 1920s, then Harry Truman's actions in 1948.

It is very easy to damn someone else's religion without understanding what Christians did in the Middle East. If some foreign power caused millions of American women and children to suffer, American men would take up arms and make the unjust foreigners pay the price for their lack of justice and compassion. Religion has very little to do with the real problem. If everyone in the Middle East was a Christian, and Americans had done what Americans did, there would still be acts of terrorism and war.

How many Muslims attacked the United States before the Nakba of 1948 and the CIA-engineered coup of 1953? There were no acts of Muslim terrorism against the US until just recently. Why was the US attacked? Because our government is wildly unjust. It preaches sermons on "equal rights" and "democracy" to the rest of the world, but in the Middle East it has propped up one anti-democratic regime after another. Israel is one of the most racist, brutal nations on earth. Israel cynically uses the "faith" of dumbed-down Christians to fund its ethnic cleansing of Palestine, which has been going on for 60+ years, creating a new Holocaust.

Americans have become like Germans under the Nazis, praising God and country while millions of innocents go through a Holocaust. When anyone tries to defend the victims, they blame the victims for all the world's problems, just as the Germans blamed the Jews.

Another good one Mike!

By: yogiman on 3/17/12 at 8:19

I never cease to be amazed, Mike. It seems to be okay for you and your fellow posters to make any negative remark you feel about Israel, but I'm wrong in my postings about the usurper in the White House and shouldn't be constant in my concern about our nation"s future.

Does this mean it's okay for you but not for me because you have been on this site longer than I and have superior rights?

By: bfra on 3/17/12 at 8:56

When you keep posting "LIES" repeatedly, 24/7, how could you be anything but WRONG?

By: yogiman on 3/17/12 at 9:38

Simply because I'm right, bfra. I've just been trying to get you Obama fans to look into the information and read the data I have posted. And that data has been affirmed by a six month investigation by retired police investigators. They're wrong? Gimma a break, bfra.

But if I'm not right, as you keep insisting, prove me wrong; with evidence, bfra, not just because of your admiration of the man.

Your acceptance of someone as your president whom you have no factual knowledge of where he was born, went to school, or what citizenship status he had when living in a foreign country boils down to a simple fact, bfra: You're ignorant of the matter and unconcerned of the status of your nation.

As I have said before, read his autobiography. It may wake you up, but I doubt it.

By: Captain Nemo on 3/17/12 at 9:45

You have never been correct about anything in your life, yogi. You are not even a man.

By: bfra on 3/17/12 at 10:04

Almost everone on this board has proved you wrong, yogi! Either you never learned to read or too dumb to know what you read. All you can do is, what if?, why can't?, etc.. and never proved the first piece of gossip you post. Go read some more Corsi (sp), known as the trash author.

By: yogiman on 3/17/12 at 10:26

Forget about Jerome Corsi, bfra, just read your boy's autobiography. Or is that a bunch of lies, also?

By: yogiman on 3/17/12 at 10:29

You wanna take me on physically, dumba$$? It's obvious you don't have a chance mentally.

By: pswindle on 3/17/12 at 11:46

Where are the wives, daughters, mothers, nieces and girl cousins of the GOP Right-Wing and the Tea Party? Surely, they do not want their rights taken away. Are they too scared to speak up? The women could stop this legislative by standing up against these bullies that they call husband, fathers, etc. I remember my own Mother, she was a strong person and she wold not stand for a woman's rights to be taken away. I remember her saying years ago about obortion, "it is your choice and no one else, and that it is a private matter and no one else should have a say unless the father wants to have a part in the decision." She was a good christian woman with common sense.

By: yogiman on 3/17/12 at 11:55

Just wondering, did any of you Obama fans see the Obama flag being flown at the Democratic party's headquarters office in Florida the other day? You know, the one where they replaced the stars section of the American flag with a picture of their master.

It's disgusting to see people going by the party name 'Democrat' make such a display of the national flag.

First Amendment rights? Gimma a break. There are rights in a display, and there are wrongs in a display, and you're using the 1st Amendment to tell what you really are to the public when you degrade the American flag.

By: Mike Burch on 3/17/12 at 1:24

I have never suggested that you don't have freedom to speak your mind. I have only questioned why you are so fixated on President Obama. I think you must secretly have a crush on him, you talk about him so much!

But now I know why you secretly love him ... he is the archenemy of Islamic extremists, and you should be proud of him. Here is the proof that President Obama is the archenemy of the extremists, from an oracle of conservatism, the Washington Post ...

Al Qaeda had to eliminate Obama, wrote bin Laden in a 2010 memo first reported on Friday in a Washington Post exclusive, because he is “the head of infidelity” – an assertion that should authoritatively silence the right-wing paranoids who claim that the president is not a Christian, as he professes, but a secret Muslim.

More to the point, if Obama were the weak, ineffectual appeaser of Republican mythology, why would he have become the target of a plan to shoot down Air Force One? Administration officials told the Post that the plot was never a serious threat to the President because Al Qaeda lacked the capacity to fulfill it. Yet that didn't quell bin Laden's determination, expressed in demands that a terrorist named Ilyas Kashmiri "send me the steps he has taken into that work." In a few words dispatched to his associates, bin Laden sinks the fundamental assumption of every foreign policy speech by Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Santorum.

By: Mike Burch on 3/17/12 at 1:28

So Yogi, it's okay to openly admit your love and admiration for Barack Obama. He is the archenemy of Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. They fear him more than Romney, Santorum and Gingrich put together.

And you heard it straight from the horse's mouth, Osama bin Laden himself!

So pucker up and give President Obama the love and affection he deserves, as an American hero and the head of global opposition to Islamic extremism!

By: Mike Burch on 3/17/12 at 1:37

I think everyone who believes in women's rights and equal rights for EVERYONE should use their votes to boot anti-American Republicans out of office until they remember that equal rights was the reason the Founding Fathers fought the Revolutionary War.

How can there be representative government if male chauvinists ignore the rights of half the population? Should the Vatican be allowed to deny American women the right to contraceptives?

Why are Republicans falling all over themselves to satisfy powerful male bigots and chauvinists at the expense of everyone else? Why are the 99% of Americans who approve of contraceptives now at the mercy of the 1% of men like Santorum, who claim to know the mind of God? Is it for the same reason that 1% have every economic advantage over the other 99%?

Are we just seeing a power play, with the autocrats and theocrats robbing everyone else of their rights, money and power?

By: Mike Burch on 3/17/12 at 1:46

You said, "Before 9/11, 98% of america had NO IDEA who Osama Bin Laden was, nor Al Queda, Taliban- because Americans were not terrorizing muslims!"

But that is simply not true. If you study the REAL history of the Middle East, you will see that the US was terrorizing Muslims by the millions, long before any act of terrorism against the US ...

The Nabka of the Palestinians in 1948, and continuing to this day, has caused the suffering of millions of completely innocent Muslim women and children

The CIA-engineered coup of the government of Iran in 1953, followed by the installation of the Shah of Iran, led to suffering for millions of Iranians. Then, once Iran had understandably turned against the US, our government gave money and weapons to Saddam Hussein, which he used in wars to kill around a million Iranians.

These are just two extreme examples; there are many others. So while the people who died on 9-11 were innocent, our government was not. When the government of Germany went berserk, we went to war with all Germans. When our government acts with wild injustice in the Middle East, it's hard for the the victims to separate the good Americans from the bad ones, so we become a collective target. If we want peace, we need to stop doing insanely unjust things in the Middle East.

But our government had a hand in the suffering and deaths of millions of Muslims, so it is no use acting as if our nation is innocent. Only the victims were innocent, but then so were millions of Muslims who suffered and died first.

By: yogiman on 3/17/12 at 2:18

That was a good joke, Mike. My stomach is still hurting I laughed so hard. But, as I have noted before, If Obama will identity himself as qualified according to our Constitution, I will accept him as the President. But he can't or he would have at the beginning.

Why did he question John McCain's legality but refused to be questioned? Because he knew he would flunk.

Being the scholar you pretend to be shows you must have studied literature because you sure didn't study the Constitution or the laws that have held it in place since it was placed in the Constitution.

There is a special meaning of Article II requirements for someone to become our president, and your boy Barry doesn't meet that qualification. If he gets away with it, he will be the first foreigner to sit in our Oval Office and lead this nation into poverty... so he can gain full control.

By: bfra on 3/17/12 at 2:26

Face it yogi, nobody cares what you think & Obama doesn't have to prove a thing to you. You are no more important to this Country than a pissant on a toadstool. It's fanatics like you, the human race would be better off without!

By: Mike Burch on 3/17/12 at 4:56

I'm glad I made you laugh. And for some inexplicable reason I like you, although I disagree with everything you say. So I hope you don't consider me the enemy.

I do, however, have a very high IQ, and I actually study facts rather than believing things for irrational reasons, so you're unlikely to convert me into believing that President Obama is not really an American citizen. And even if he's not, he's a damn sight better than the Three Stooges. I would rather have a smart Kenyan Muslim running the country than a moronic Christian like Richard the Zion-hearted.

As I have pointed out before, the irony of your situation is that if you want what's best for the country, you need to vote for Barack Hussein Obama. If one of the Three Stooges gets elected, they'll bomb Iran, start World War III and everyone you love will go down the tubes. Just look at what happened to Nazi Germany when it started war after war.

So have another nice laugh and do what's best for your family ... vote for the best man for the job, since there is no reasonable alternative!

See you at the polls,

Loner, just you watch. I am going to use humor to convert Yogi into becoming a true patriot, which means voting for Barack Obama. Then we can widen the bromance into a ménage à trois!

Yogi, Yogi,
don't be pokey!
Vote for Obama
for the sake of your mama!
Santorum'll kill her.
Mitt Romney will bill her.
Newt G. is a con man.
So vote for the Kenyan!

Yogi, rejoice!
There's really no choice!
Quick, rush to the polls,
clear all the chad holes,
and, for the sake of your mama,
vote for Obama.

Once a republican,
For the sake of your countryman,
Please vote for the better man!
Yes, think of your mama
And vote for Obama!

Come 'n listen to a story 'bout a man named Barack.
Old Yogi used to diss him till he heard a wise man talk.
Then up through his brain like sweet-bubblin' crude
Real facts began to filter (rational thinking soon ensued).
So the first thing you know, old Yogi did declare:
"I see the three Stooges for what they are. Beware!
So let's all vote for Barry, and not be so irrational
And we'll have a real fine Kenyan man running our nation's capitol!"

Yogiman, Yogiman,
Smooch Barry! Yes, you can!
... Give Barry love ...
... like the angels above ...
he'll be kind to your mama,
so vote for Obama!

Maybe, Mike Burch can hook with the muslims such as these in the streets of St. Louis, Missouri.

If they don't like your poetry, you get the "Star of David" carved to your back.
Maybe you can add his poem, (Mr. Alaa Alsaegh) to your website Mike, if not his poem, maybe as an art and if not art, just keep it as a conversational piece.

Sort of gives new meaning to Münchausen’s daycare ......huh Mike.

Good jokes, Mike. Maybe you should concentrate in the comedian field because they are so much better than your comments regarding Constitutional knowledge, which ain't much.

You, and your fellow Obama admirers posting on this site are proving your ignorance more every day, Mike. Because if you had the intelligence you're pretending to have, you would wonder just who in the hell this guy you admire so much is.

You're right on the issue I want what is best for this country, Mike, as long as they are in that office legally. I can't stand a usurper.

In many ways, I feel sorry for you guys who are so willing to accept someone in that office whom you don't even know. All you can possibly know is what he looks like, because you sure don't know anything else about him.

For all the smoke and hysteria my 6am Friday post still offers the most perspective of Burch's contribution to the cacophony of elect Obama or perish rhetoric.
