Burch: Local yokel embarrasses state

Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:56pm
By Michael R. Burch

As reported by the Chattanooga Times Free Press, Tennessee Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, a Tea Party conservative, is doing his best to keep our state a national laughingstock.

Fleischmann’s smug mug on his Wikipedia page reminds me of George W. Bush, while his equally atrocious mangling of the English language makes me wonder if they might have the same Neanderthals in their bloodlines.

I say this because Fleischmann recently sent President Obama an embarrassing “postcard” regarding his Chattanooga visit. The “postcard” was delivered to the media, but was addressed to the president. It said, and I quote, with my suggested revisions in brackets:

Mr. President,

Welcome to beautiful Chattanooga. We appreciate [that] you are in town, celebriting [celebrating] the businesses that have come to Tennessee thanks to our low regulation [business-friendly regulations], low taxes, and right to work policies. While [you are] here, I invite you to visist [visit] a few historial [historical and] natural attractions like [such as] Ruby Falls, a true Chattanooga treasure. However, Obamacare is making it difficult to maintain or [and] grow businesses [is Ruby Falls a “business” and can it “grow”?] of this size. Even though Tennessee’s strong leadership has put us in a better position than most [states,] we’re not immune to the burdens this policy is placing on Americans across the country.

Best,

Chuck Fleischmann

I am amazed that Fleischmann managed to spell his own name correctly. The “postcard” was addressed to the president at “1600 Pensylvannia [sic] Avenue.”

I suspect that the only A grades earned honestly by Fleischmann were the ones granted him by gun-happy special interest groups for supporting legislation which he described, in his Yoda-like language, as allowing “licensed firearm owners to carry out their God-given right more freely” because “the right to carry a firearm is a right that allows law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and is crucial to the freedom of our country.”

Fleischmann’s first vote in office was a “yea” on a 2011 motion to repeal Obamacare.

In November 2011, Fleischmann filed a bill of his own called the “Stop Green Initiative Abuse Act of 2011.” It would repeal the Department of Energy’s “Weatherization Assistance Program,” which helps low-income families reduce their energy consumption and bills by adding energy-efficient caulking and insulation to their homes.

Fleischmann also voted for a bill that encourages the display of “In God We Trust” in public buildings and schools.

It would be nice if Fleischmann was as avid about education and good writing as he is about guns, “god” and energy guzzling. As the Chattanooga Times article pointed out, fewer than half the Hamilton County students in grades three through eight are able to read at their grade level, according to standardized test results.

Like George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Rick Perry and other Tea Party politicians, Fleischmann somehow managed to become a political mover and shaker without knowing how to write grammatically and logically correct sentences. While it’s obviously terrible that so many Tennessee grade schoolers are below average, education-wise, at least they’re not trying to run the country. I’m afraid the only place someone like Fleischmann can run the country is further into the ground.

M. Burch,
Please explain to me how, and why, these imbeciles get elected to office?
And the salaries ar huge for these morons...$250,000 starting...most are $300,000+.
Have security details, paid staff, Govern's mansion, paid for meals.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/2/13 at 5:47

I waz(sic) begining (sic) to think you were (sic) going to have a colum (sic) today.

I think Felchman (sic) has about the same brain power as Comrade yogi. and maybe just as crazee(sic)and bright as a blown light bub.

On the serious side, I am not surprise that Fleischmann would right his thank you post card in this manner. He is Tea Party material.

By: Mike Burch on 8/3/13 at 1:25

Dargent7,

These imbeciles get elected because we live in a democracy and voters elect them. We have tests for CPAs and lawyers, but any illiterate redneck can become a senator, congressman, governor or even President.

Bush Junior was elected president, but was incapable of mastering English grammar. Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann and Rick Perry were a step or two from the White House, and they speak gibberish, like less-wise Yodas.

I think we need to give politicians a battery of tests and publish the results before anyone votes for them.

Mike

Nemo,

If we added all the IQs of the Tea Party together, I think we would end up with a negative number!

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 5:10

We obviously don't have a 100 percent population of intelligent citizens, including you, Mike. The biggest 100 'percenter' you appear to be is a 100% democrat.

If you was as intelligent in politics as you are in writing, and was a devout American, you would not be so willingly acceptable to a person as your president who is known to be constitutionally ineligible for that office.

And by the way, have you bothered to check the First and Third sessions of congress for their determination of requirements to be a natural born citizen?

Maybe you should also listen to a man from Cuba as to how he compares Barack Obama to Fidel Castro. (is obama the next fidel castro via bing or google)

Then, if you still prefer the usurper in office, welcome to the communist nation your favorite dictator in office is taking this nation.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/13 at 6:39

In a flash Comrade yogi gives us evidence that the Tea Party's IQ is lower than zero. Comrade yogi is so unintelligent that he exposes his ties with Communist Cuba.

His North Korean handlers mush be really proud of him.

By: pswindle on 8/3/13 at 11:23

The Tea Party is uneducated individuals with big mouths. They think that they know everything. Look at Sen. Curz of Texas, what a joke. Oh I forgot Sen. Paul of KY. He and Larmar are good buddies now that they know all about a one-sided discussion on Charter Schools with the help of Hauffman, Education Secretary, another money-hungry Haslam guy.

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 11:37

You must one of them dumbolecraps pswindle, since they don't agree with you. Did you mean Sen. Cruz of Texas instead of Curz as dumbolecraps comment?

Let me put it point blank again: Anyone who is willing to accept someone as their president who refuses to identify himself, and they don't even know his legal name, is a pure dumb Democrat, certainly not a true American.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/13 at 11:54

dumbolecraps (sic) My oh my this Tea Baggier can't wright very well with his mouth full, now can he.

Comrade yogi is so full of hate he can't think clearly even if he could think. He is a sorry waste and a traitor to America.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/13 at 12:03

Rep. Rangel has hit the nail on the head, by comparing the Tea Party to racist of the old south.

Comrade yogi is the poster boy for both the Tea Party and stupidity.

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 1:43

Sorry dumba$$,

But you and your "buddies" are the traitors to this nation. Why, you ask. Simply because you're too damn ignorant to know what a usurper is in our white House.

You're so ignorant you think of him as your president and too ignorant to understand how he's bankrupting this nation to place it under marshal law.

If he was a fellow democrat I would understand your feelings for him, but it's too obvious he's a communist from the word go and you're too ignorant to understand it.

By: pswindle on 8/3/13 at 1:59

Was Rangel wrong in his statement? I think not. Yogi, Did you know that Cheney wanted to put us under Marshall Law, and he wanted to change the laws so he and Bush could stay in office. But Bush was in so over his head, he could not wait to leave Washington. By the way, who bankrupted the country? Cruz or Curz, he is still a total fool.

By: bfra on 8/3/13 at 2:41

yogi the brainless blob doesn't know 1 iota about the Government or how it is run. He is too into his stupid communist blogs & even thinks Maytag makes guns. HA! Just pay attention to how stupid his comments are. The blob is nuts!

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 4:25

pswindle,

The basic difference between Bush and Barry is bush was in the office legally, Barry isn't. Bush was also pushing for the amnesty goal. And if you remember, his father made a statement about placing us in a one world government.

And bfra, if you thought I was serious when I made that comment about Maytag being a gun manufacturer, I can only sympathize for your narrow mind.

Next Friday will be the last day on this site so how about proving I'm a liar (at least one time) on my arguments your man Barry is in that office illegally.

By: bfra on 8/3/13 at 4:29

OMG yogi, all anybody has to do is read 1 comment by the brainless blob and they know you are a LIAR! People are not the fools, you try to pretend they are. You are so pitiful!

By: bfra on 8/3/13 at 4:32

yogi - You are always not serious, just kidding, that's a joke, blah blah, when called out on your LIES.

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 4:32

Are you a political scholar, bfra? If you are, tell me what our founders meant when they set the requirements to be eligible for the President's office to be a natural born citizen. What did they mean in the 1st and 3rd sessions of congress when they stated PARENTS, instead of parent to be a natural bon citizen?

As I've posted before, please explain to me how Barry Soetoro could become a natural born citizen if he became a naturalized citizen after his Indonesian citizenship.

Or how could he regain natural born status after he became an Indonesian citizen?

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 4:37

Sorry, bfra,

You're the joke. You can only accuse but you can't prove. You haven't offered one iota of evidence on your claim I'm a liar. Why not? Don't you have any?

By: bfra on 8/3/13 at 4:42

Everything you post is a lie! You have never given any proof of anything you guessed at! Brainless blob, ha, ha, Obama is the 2nd. time ELECTED BY THE MAJORITY OF VOTERS, President & not a damn thing your stupid blabbing can do about it. Blab on till the 9th & then your LIES will not be missed, LIAR.

By: bfra on 8/3/13 at 4:50

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 5:37

Sorry, bfra,
==========================================
Yep you sure are! Sorry as hell!

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/13 at 5:21

After Comrade yogi admits that he is in contact with Cuba, he calls us traitors. I dare you to say that to my face ass hole.

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 6:13

Sorry you don't know how to read, bfra. I have given all the proof Barry Soetoro has to offer. And Barry was elected? Great joke. Not may dead people are voting for American's anymore.

To educate you a little, bfra (if you have the intelligence to understand it), you cannot win a race you are not legally eligible to enter even if you come in first after sneaking in the race to run at the starting line.

Let's simplify it considering your lack of intelligence: When you was in school (considering you went to school during your childhood), could you join a team at another school and run in their races?

Now consider: How could Barack Hussein Obama 'win' the US President's office after he became an Indonesian citizen which renounced his natural born status even if he was born in Hawaii rather than Kenya as he advertised for 16 years.

By: bfra on 8/3/13 at 6:16

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 7:13

Not may dead people are voting for American's
==================================================

No wonder you don't know your a** from a hole in the ground! You can't even make sense.

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 6:18

Two shows everyone should watch: www.youtube.com/embed/6-3X5hIFXYU/ regarding how the world will become in the next 50 years.

Also the Tyson Food business in Shelbyville TN. Why are they favoring the Muslims working there?

www.foxnews.com/story/0%2c2933%2c397645%2c00.html/

More Tyson chicken, anyone?

By: yogiman on 8/3/13 at 6:31

bfra,

I can only conclude you are more ignorant that I thought you was. First, that you are so willing to accept someone as your president whom you have no idea who in the hell he is, and you apparently haven't heard anything about his illegal votes.

By the way, what did you think of that gang bullying people at the voting booth in Pennsylvania with clubs and Barry and Eric Holder refusing to prosecute them?

Was they afraid Barry wouldn't get their votes?

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/13 at 6:49

You have never giving any proof of any thing Comrade yogi. The only evidence you have given is that you have no knowledge of American History. Your North Korean handlers fail in your training or perhaps it is that your are to stupid to learn..

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/13 at 7:00

As you have shown so many times your lack of understanding basic history, along with common sense. It is you that are so ignorant, that when you die, Americas IQ will improve a 100%.

By: BenDover on 8/4/13 at 2:37

Looks like two small typos to me, but how dare this lowly state rep. criticize Lord Barrack! I have not kept up as to whether the CP is still shutting down but, if so, not much of a swan song for Burch.

By: BenDover on 8/4/13 at 2:43

I would go for minimum IQ, civic and economic competency exams to vote Mike, as well as factual questions about candidates' history and positions on policies. You absolutely miscalculate what this would do to the electorate.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/4/13 at 4:50

Hello Ben. How was your vacation?

I am in Los Vegas about to fly to the Grand Canyon.

By: yogiman on 8/4/13 at 5:51

You are a lousy communist convince r, dumba$$. You have to convince someone to be one. Why would anyone want to show as much ignorance as you to become a fellow communist with an idiot like you.

By: yogiman on 8/4/13 at 6:45

One more effort to show you Obama fans Barry was not a natural born American citizen as needed to qualify to him to become President of the USA.

Go into your search program (google or bing) and type in [Kenyan born Obama all set for US Senate] and read the article printed by the Kenyan newspaper Sunday Standard printed on June 27, 2004.

Then tell me he was born in Hawaii with a British subject his father which would (also) not make him a natural born citizen, only a dual-citizen at best.

By: govskeptic on 8/4/13 at 6:45

Yes, we are all proud of our great Congress Representatives. About 2 weeks ago
I watched on C-Span as our great Representative from Memphis )9th District)
spent his 2 minutes of morning addresses to Plead for the Justice Department
to free the Imprisoned former Governor of Alabama. That truly serves our state
well and is so important to Memphis. His previous addresses and work has been
to make life easier in prison for the distinguished John Ford in Miss. prison.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/4/13 at 7:06

Comrade yogi you went willingly. I was but boy when you betrayed America.

By: yogiman on 8/4/13 at 6:45

dumba$$,

It's a shame you can't see beyond your nose. It would also be great if you had gone to school and learned to read and write a simple worded sentence.

By: yogiman on 8/4/13 at 6:56

Oh, by the way dumba$$,

Yes, I went willingly when I volunteered to join the service. In entering, I took an oath to protect this country to the best of my ability. That oath was not left behind in the 'john' when I was discharged. And after all of your BS about my time in service makes me wonder when you volunteered and how many years you you served.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/4/13 at 7:47

Comrade yogi you went willingly to be a traitor to America? I thought at less you were turned by forced, but no you went willingly.

By: acblynch on 8/5/13 at 2:59

Oh, how I will miss the ad hominem arguments after this week!

By: Libertine on 8/5/13 at 5:12

Every party has its Fleischmanns, Fords, Rangels and Weiners, though I don't think that you will ever hear Burch acknowledge it.

The Weatherization program is a bureaucratic mess, wasteful and ineffective program, it should go.

President Obama ends every speech with God Bless America, I wonder when we will see Burch's rant criticizing that?

By: yogiman on 8/5/13 at 5:38

I'm afraid Obama ends his speeches with 'God Bless America' for political reasons only. He certainly isn't a Christian.

Mike,

Since you are so willing to accept a 'democrat' usurper in office because he is [better than Bush], I suggest you identify Dr. Edwin Vieira and read what he has to say about the usurper in office.

It's obvious Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama is not a "natural born Citizen" eligible to be in that office.

You can read Dr. Vieira's comments at: www.wnd.com/2011/07/321969/

Is he right or wrong?

By: yogiman on 8/5/13 at 8:03

Mike,

It's interesting that you found (and made such notes) on Rep Chuck Fleischmann because of his writing. You must have not found the article "Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough" written by Free Press editor Drew Johnson who wrote the article.

The article was published the day Obama was in Chattanooga.

Read it Mike, you might like it.

By: bfra on 8/5/13 at 8:19

That's the article he got fired for you old fool! Good riddance!

By: budlight on 8/5/13 at 8:33

I suspect that the only A grades earned honestly by Fleischmann were the ones granted him by gun-happy special interest groups for supporting legislation which he described, in his Yoda-like language, as allowing “licensed firearm owners to carry out their God-given right more freely” because “the right to carry a firearm is a right that allows law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and is crucial to the freedom of our country.”

Mike, maybe he got his "A grades" from the libs who designed the new grading system here in Metro for the 2013 school year. You know, the ones who said that giving a grade of 20 is demeaning and demoralizing to students, so they will now get a 50 because 50 will boost their self esteem.

Again, pot calling kettle black. Should have been "I am not suprise(d) that Fleischmann would write (not right) his post card . . . ".

Nemo is also Tea Party material. I get his attempt at comedy in the first 3 sentences, albeit a rather weak attempt. However, Nemo, you have typos and flaws in everything you right (LOL write).

So get off the Yogi wagon, you old hogwash fool.

If you are that stupid yogi then go screw yourself.

And yet another example of our Resident dumbo, Nemo, not accepting the fact that he is not perfect and he IS the pot calling the kettle black.

Nemo, no it is you who are stupid. Yogi just called you on it. Fess up, boy! YOU made a typo mistake or YOU didn't know better. Just thank Yogi for bringing it to your attention. AND proof read your stuff or we're gonna have to give you the METRO 50 as a grade.

For METRO 50 is the NEW ZERO! But I'm sure it was libs who designed the new Metro grade system.

The old hag (or is that hog) trying to be a spelling teacher! That is the joke for the day.

By: budlight on 8/5/13 at 8:50

Hey Yogi, the "FREE PRESS" isn't so free after all, is it? They hired him because they wanted a moderate and knew he was not a lib. Guess they didn't like him after all.
