In 2006 Nancy Pelosi promised the American people that if they would vote to give Democrats control of Congress, making her Speaker of the House, they would come to Washington and “drain the swamp.”
More than a year later, Democrats have converted the alleged Republican swamp into a vast pit of quicksand into which America’s national and financial security are slowly sinking.
Democrats chortle over the president’s dismal 24 percent popularity rating, but they have to look up to see it from their own popularity rating of a tiny 11 percent.
Madame Speaker, once hailed by the media and her fellow Democrats as a shrewd politician who would turn her tenure as the first woman to occupy the Speaker’s chair into a stellar performance, has been revealed as a bumbling San Francisco-style far-out liberal Democrat with nary a notion as to what this nation really stands for.
Despite their protests to the contrary, her party has revealed itself to be Marxist in every sense of the word. Without exception, the social programs they espouse are rooted in socialist doctrines. They distrust the American people to manage their own affairs without the deadly hand of the federal government gripping them by the shoulders and draining their wallets.
No matter what the problem, they have two approaches to solve it — spending vast amounts of money on socialist-style solutions, and paying for them by raising taxes — allegedly on the “rich,” who appear in Democrat eyes to be any family earning more than $50 a week.
That, however, is not the most obvious result of the voters’ decision to oust the Republicans from control of Capitol Hill (a fate they brought upon themselves by acting like wild-spending Democrats). It’s the revelation that the Democrat majority is absolutely incompetent and totally unfit to govern any nation.
You need look no further than the Speaker Pelosi’s willingness to poke a sharp stick into the eyes of one of America’s closest allies in the war on terror, and one of our strongest supporters, Turkey.
Ignoring the fact that Turkish support is vital to our troops in Iraq, the madam of the House threw her full weight behind a resolution to condemn Turkey for something that happened nearly a century ago, and in which not a single living being in Turkey had any part.
Why? Simply because it would please a voting bloc in Mrs. Pelosi’s home state.
Fortunately, a number of her fellow House Democrats suddenly realized that she was leading them into the quicksand, and saner heads seem to be prevailing as Pelosi’s political turkey heads for the chopping block.
This, however, is symptomatic of the problem of handing power to the current Leftist-dominated Democrat party, which has a two-pronged approach to governing the nation: do everything possible to win elections by satisfying certain various voting blocs no matter how much their policies threaten the safety and security of the American people, and move as far to the left as possible without revealing their total dedication to the coercive policies of Karl Marx.
To put it simply, this party is wholly owned by the unhinged George Soros left, the teachers’ unions, big labor bosses, trial lawyers, and assorted pie-in-the-sky liberals shaking in their boots over the imagined threat that Earth and everyone on it is in the process being barbecued by Mother Nature.
In an effort to mollify the rabid anti-war left that wants us out of Iraq now — no matter what the dreadful consequences for world peace and an oil-dependent world economy — the Democrat Congressional leadership has sought to have it both ways: make loud noises about ending the war, while throwing up their hands and telling all those nuts in San Francisco that they are at the mercy of big, bad George Bush who is using his massive 24 percent popularity to tie their hands and frustrate their efforts to cut and run.
I won’t argue that the Republicans didn’t deserve to have their ears pinned back in 2006, but who knew that in getting rid of one crew of Washington insiders the nation was put in the hands of the gang that can’t shoot straight, or even figure out which end of the gun to point.

Her unofficial trip to the Middle East was not in the best interests of the American people, quite to the contrary, she acted on behalf of a segment of the Democratic Party using the cloak of her position as Speaker.She called her treason "diplomancy". She is a disgrace to America.

One person made out like a bandit with Pelosi's new influence. Her son, Paul Pelosi Jr., was hired to a "second" job paying $180,000 per year as VP at InfoUSA. A company led by Vin Gupta who is a big Democrat donor and close friend of bothNancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton.
I had a few out-takes on that cartoon...Nancy Pelosi I took to task yesterday.Even John (Haditha Marines) Murtha has had to 'correct' Nancy. And he was being nice.She's a failure as Speaker of the House, even for a Democrat. Impeach her~!
Remember the minimum wage increase? Pelosi got an exception for American Samoa because of Bay area StarKist with business interests there. StarKist employs about 75% of Samoan workers. Apparently Pelosi feels that Samoans didn't need the pay increase.Pelosi is no leader, and in fact there are very few leaders in either party. As for Murtha, I wouldn't spit on him if he were on fire. He is a traitor to every Marine who has ever served. Charges against the Marines of Haditha have all but been dismissed now that the facts have been revealed; but you won't hear an apology from Murtha. How the people of Pennsylvania voted him in is beyond me.
Harry Reid is another member of the Democratic Party that is a disgrace to America. All he knows how to do is bash the U.S. every time he opens his mouth and should be kicked out of the Senate along with his royal drunkardness Ted Kennady.

I am really surprised that none of the Lefties are out here bashing Michael Reagan like usual. I guess with a Liberal nut case like Pelosi being the article subject, none of the lefties want to open their mouth. Pelosi's treasonous actions of late should have gotten her a firing squad. I believe the Left wing loons will eventually cause their party to wake up and take notice of the consequences of her many political blunders.Between the anti-war left and Pelosi's poster child, Murtha, the Democrats are doing exactly as we predicted.... imploding from the inside out.

Hello GD, hope your doing well. And yes, speaking of loons, Pelosi is playing monkey in the middle while the clowns are running the show. She is the head clown. The Democratic party, while priding itself on being the anti-war party, is fracturing right down the middle. Now that America cannot embrace the nuttiness of their extremism, even Dems will wake up and notice eventually when it starts adversely effecting their agenda. This is a party that eats its own and is divided against itself. That's why they have to rely on illegals, felons and dead people to win their elections. Their base is unpredictable and dwindling.

Dissent is not bad. But when done on the backs of our military while they are battling our enemies, then it is disgraceful. I never can discern where you stand from some of the comments you post. You know, you say you are a Marine. I always thought The Marine Corps to be above the pork and politics and into doing the right thing. You know: hard soldiering, harder fighting, and duty, honor and COUNTRY. I've always admired Marine patriotism, honesty, true grit, dedication and good heart that's always put country and doing the right thing ahead of self and selfishness. To dissent is to disagree, TN, and it’s very healthy and it is very necessary. Especially in today’s political climant. Being a Marine does not preclude political affiliation. Mean spirited? As usual you misconstrued the point I attempted to make. I think you missed the point I attempted to make and your obvious bias toward me can not allow it. Our discussion went south when you changed the subject. The article written was about the lack of leadership of the Democrats, especially Pelosi. Congress' approval rating is barely in the double digits, even lower than the President's.We are at war and we are still in Iraq. The war has seen an amazing turn-around with the likes of Charlie Gibson reporting that the news from Iraq is, that there is no news from Iraq. The surge has worked and the real enemy (not our military Mr. Murtha, Stark and Durbin aka Democrats) is being squeezed by not only our efforts but the Iraqi's as well. The reason we are in Iraq is now insignificant: we are there, our military is there and we should be behind them 100+%. You don't have to like Bush, but leave our boys out of it! Semper Fi

Haven't you noticed the current President is a demagogue (i.e.: a person, esp. an orator or political leader, who gains power and popularity by arousing the emotions, passions, and prejudices of the people). Republicans have been preaching hate against Democrats for years. I wonder if/when this seething hatred will turn into something overtly violent? And this from those that claim to be "Christian".
MAmom, While I agree with the point you make, I must point out that the Democrats do dish out their fair share of hate and disdain for conservatives. It is a two way street and uniting these old UNITED STATES is a tough job for anyone at this point.
