What have been the best news stories in Nashville this year? Likewise, what have been the best advances for the city? What should carry over into 2012?

Best: The Titans got rid of Vince Young and Jeff Fisher. Munchak looks like he knows what he's doing.
Best Advance: Building the New Music Convention Center and Omni Hotel. That area of the city was a blight and too dangerous to visit. Nashville should double it's tourism and all the businesses downtown will double their business.
Too bad some morons passed the guns in bars law.

By: dargent7 on 12/30/11 at 5:47

L'ner: Is that you?

The point that a new Tea Party group has taken place in Davidson county is good news. We need a new party nationwide to replace the anti Constitutionalists in out national legislature.

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 6:45

Correction, please. "Our" national legislature, not "out".

Good morning, Nashville!

Don't understand your 5:47 post, Darge.

What have been the best news stories in Nashville this year? Likewise, what have been the best advances for the city? What should carry over into 2012?

"Best" is a subjective term; it depends on one's frame of reference.

"Advances" for the City? The anti-discrimination laws were a step in the right direction, but the Tea Party GOP types in TN state govt. struck down the advance, opting for continued repression of the GLBT community.

There was talk of a lawsuit to overturn the TP-GOP ruling, let that carry forward into the new year.

1- The rise of the 99

2- The facture of the Tea Party ( in the making)

3- Congress being forced to pass the jobs bill

4- Obama at 49% approval

To name a few of the best.

I tried, Yogi cannot be reasoned with...that's the definition of an internet troll...and me, I must be "insane", I've tried to reason with Yogi in the past...it did not work then, it is not working now...I'm crazy to have thought that one more attempt would make a difference....mea culpa.

Loner what were you thinking?

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 7:56

Careful, boys. It isn't Monday yet.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 8:00

I have no idea, Nemo, must have been the egg-nog. I will ignore the troll from now on....it feeds on attention.

By: sidneyames on 12/30/11 at 8:03

I have no idea, Nemo, must have been the egg-nog. I will ignore the troll from now on....it feeds on attention.

And of course we all know that if "anyone else" is getting attention, it detracts from the attention you get. Happy New Year!

Hey Yogi, hope you had a nice Christmas and are being blessed this New Year. Tea? Anyone?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/30/11 at 8:07

LOL Good morning how are you today. We are partly cloudy and the temp is not bad, however the wind is up.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/30/11 at 8:09

Someone has her head stuck in a jug, to get attention.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/30/11 at 8:15

BTW sid you are not in yogi’s well.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 8:19

Ignoring the female troll too.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 8:51

It's warmer and no snow...just cloudy and dismal.

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 9:03

Well, boys, (loner @ Captain Nemo) I just read where Barry wants congress to give him another increase in the debt limit.

What the hell does he need, more money for his gold games and vacations? After all, he's only had 90 games of golf in his three years of usurpation. How many vacations in 2011? Was it just three or do you count Michell's vacations also?

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 9:09

Loner,

Wanna learn a little sumthin this year? Check google on 'documents show marriage of Obama's parents a sham'. Tell me what you think of those documents and comments.

By: bfra on 12/30/11 at 9:23

yogi has really flipped his lid & he didn't even have a lid to flip!

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 9:30

Have you read those documents, bfra? Didn't think so. So, can you explain why Barack Obama (Sr)s birth date is shown as 1934 and 1936 on different documents?

Sorry, you may have to do a little serious thinking on it and I've become aware you aren't capable for that.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/30/11 at 9:31

bfra-

This is be nice to yogi until the News Year. No name calling.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/30/11 at 9:33

Happy New Year bfra. If I don't get back, today I will see you next year.

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 9:38

Goodmorning, sidneyames,

Had a great Christmas and looking for a great new year. That is, when we can get that usurper out of the Oval Office.

Maybe we could send him back to Kenya for more golf with his homeland buddies.

Sidneyames, I'm sure you know you have to consider the source of the negative comments you're receiving because a "select" few think this site was put on line for them exclusively and everyone should think as they do or they aren't welcome to this site.

My thoughts? Run me off. Let's see if you can do it.

By: bfra on 12/30/11 at 9:39

Nemo - Anything related to yogi, is like telling a skunk not to stink until next year! LOL

Happy New Year to you also! Glad to hear you had a good trip & safe return.

By: bfra on 12/30/11 at 10:18

yogi - You are a "run off", you exhibit diarrhea of the keyboard 24/7!

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 10:22

bfra,

Are you simply trying to tell me not to kill your pet skunk because your skunk stinks a helluvalot more than I and you like his smell better?

Sorry, I like my smell better. It will wind up smelling like a rose nest year. I want that skunk out of the Oval Office.

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 10:27

bfra,

Want a little more education? Go to: www.scribo.com/doc/54015762/barack-hussein-obama-sr-immigration-file

You won't enjoy but those are "guvmunt" facts. I'm sure with your background knowledge you can explain why he used two different years of birth.

Have fun. Its only 55 pages long.

I really can't think of anything of consequence that went on in 2011. The chickens started to roost on the Obama fiscal policy... or at least he's started to see some of the blame for it... ironically at a time when the economy is starting to produce our way out of it despite his policy.

The convention center is a big hit... probably added 20% to the value of my Condo... yet if Tony Giarratana gets his way there will be a 40 story monstrosity blocking my view of the stadium; and that can't help the value too much.

The media's reaction to the Occupy people vs. the Tea Party people outed their left-wing biases to the edge of out-right communism. The whip-lash from criticisms of 'Tea Baggers' to the fawning and doting over what can best be described as the Marxist Pee Party is a great illustration of just how far left of center our media in this country has become.

But we all came together when Phelps sent his merry band of Westboro haters to protest Sgt. Kevin Balduf's funeral. I love it when the gays, straights, conservatives, liberals, and bikers of all of the above flavors, can get together for a little Neo-Nazi bashing. They took one look at our crowd of a couple of thousand Balduf family supporters and high-tailed it out of Nashville as quick as they could get their slashed tires repaired. God hates disrespectful, intolerant, Nazi @$$holes, Phelps... not queers. Take your inbred church of hate straight to hell and choke on Satan's big fat slong you Nazi douche-bag.

Other than that... pretty quiet year though.

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 10:42

Sorry, bfra,

I made an error. That should be scribd instead of scribo. Try it and see.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 10:57

Ben...always defending the Bush royal family....he's a closet monarchist....fears the proletariat masses...does not trust in democracy....packs a side-arm...detests organized labor and collective bargaining...was thrilled when the US invaded and occupied Afghanistan and Iraq....chalks his views up to following Jesus of Nazareth.

But, in spite of those minor flaws, we love him.

Isn't that cute?

By: dargent7 on 12/30/11 at 11:34

"yogi's" lid has gone high-tech. It's now available with a screw cap.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 11:43

Darge, still wondering about your 5:47 post...I don't get it.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 12:31

OK...keep it to yourself.

By: dargent7 on 12/30/11 at 12:35

L'ner: No, no, no..I was wondering where you were, today? The other parolees slept in until after 6 am.
I was just doing a Reverse Jedhi Mind Trick on you to flush you out.
When I do it on "yogi" he goes outside to test the psi in his tires.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 12:41

I see...the trick worked...i was flushed out.

Got any New Year's Eve plans, Darge? I reserved a Jacuzzi suite in town...chilling the bubbly...rolling the J's. Got a hot date for the night.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 3:30

Anybody there in Nashville?

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 3:50

They've all gone home, Loner.

By: dargent7 on 12/30/11 at 3:58

L'ner: I was hoping for a New Year's Eve gig...didn't happen.
I'll be watching Justin Beiber.
Big NFL this Sunday. Lions v. Packers.
Check back on Monday, though TCP won't have a new column.
See you in 2012! Has a nice ring to it.

By: Loner on 12/30/11 at 7:25

Enjoy the game, Darge. See you all in 2012...Happy New Year!

By: yogiman on 12/30/11 at 8:22

Stay sober tomorrow night, Loner. I hate trying to argue with a drunk.

By: yogiman on 1/1/12 at 12:36

The best stories of 2011, or the most ridiculous? Ten most ridiculous law suits, take your pick:

1. A convict sues a couple he kidnapped for not helping him evade the police.
2. A man illegally brings a gun into a bar, gets injured in a fight, then sues the bar for not searching him for a weapon.
3. Young adults sue their mother for sending cards without gifts and playing favorites.
4. A woman disagrees with a store over an 80-cent refund and sues for $5 million.
5. A mom files a suit against an exclusive school over child's college prospects.
6. A man sues for age discrimination saying judge in his case is too old.
7. An obese man sues a burger joint over their tight squeeze in booths.
8. A woman sues over movie trailer; says not enough driving in "Drive".
9. A passenger's lawsuit says cruise ship went too fast and swayed from side to side.
10. A mother sues Chuck E. Cheese- says games encourage gambling in children.

Ain't 2012 going to be great. What else can we sue for?
