Up for Debate: A 3-D printed arsenal

Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 12:21am

Do you see 3-D printers, which can now successfully print firearms, as the next big societal transformation or merely nifty technological stepping stones? Also, do you believe they will be liberating or threatening to civilized society?

One change would put this country back on track.

Voting rules for state and national elections should be changed to those 18 through 65 who do do not pay a federal income tax will not qualify as voters. Married filing jointly would qualify as voters.

That would stop most of the financial and intellectual misfits who patrol this board to take a nice gasoline enema as the productive class decides their political and perhaps economic fate.

By: Loner on 5/8/13 at 1:17

I left a comment on that Nashville Scene board, Bn.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 1:27

Loner, they're both certifiable but Tharon is orbiting the stratosphere.

Yesterday, this was supposed to stop racism! Now it will put the Country back on track! In other words, Raspy just likes the "fit all" phrase & doesn't really know anything about the problems of the World. It wouldn't cure anything, but he likes to act like he knows something, when he doesn't.

By: Loner on 5/8/13 at 1:29

Rasp has a "gasoline enema" fantasy....is there a full moon tonight?

By: Captain Nemo on 5/8/13 at 1:34

The minor troll is sure in need of attention today. Spouts off about anything to get it

Now this is all the time I will waste on the baboon.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/8/13 at 1:37

Ben the swimming pool defence is getting old and not accomplishing a thing.

By: Rasputin72 on 5/8/13 at 1:39

LONER..........So much gasoline and so many dependent assholes.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/8/13 at 1:39

I think Ben's 11:48 post is spot on.

By: Loner on 5/8/13 at 1:41

How about this variation on your idea, Rasp:

Voting rules for state and national elections should be changed, so that those people who do not pay a state income tax are not qualified to vote in any federal elections....residents of beggar states - (states that contribute less to the federal treasury than they receive) - would lose their right to vote in federal elections.

The same reasoning that you are using for individuals would apply here....net-contributors get to vote, net-takers lose the right to vote. Tennesseans would lose their right to vote for federal candidates in this plan...you like?

By: Captain Nemo on 5/8/13 at 1:44

Raspy old boy you are as bright as yogi and are starting to out dull him.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/8/13 at 1:48

I would be careful if I were you, Raspy old boy. Shooting off that big mouth of yours could seat off a fire ball under that lazy ass of your.

By: Loner on 5/8/13 at 1:52

So, what sort of punishment would you all give those three brothers who kidnapped and imprisoned those three girls in Cleveland, Ohio...the Castro brothers....what do you do with monsters like that?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 1:54

Lock them up and throw away the key, Loner.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/8/13 at 1:57

A life time in a dark basement and having to hear the droll of Raspy, yogi and the minor troll.

By: Loner on 5/8/13 at 1:59

They are too old to be parted out....I say feed them to the inmates....buns up and kneeling....then waterboard them...repeating the process over and over....keep it up for about ten years.....then we fry them.

By: budlight on 5/8/13 at 2:01

off subject - I think. I'm glad Sanford won; the people forgave his personal sins and voted him back in because he has been fiscally responsible for his entire political life. No pork. He doesn't mind a poke, but pork is a NO WAY baby! Hopefully he will keep the personal life on the straight and narrow and run for pres or vp. He's good for the govment when it comes to dollars and SENSE! If you don't believe me, look up his voting record.

By the way nemo, I'm off the clock when I'm on CP. I work on my own time and at my leisure. I have no clock to punch.

By: bfra on 5/8/13 at 2:01

I am finding it hard to believe that for 10 yrs., that is the only time 1 of the 3 had a chance to escape.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 2:02

I have a feeling they won't do well in prison. I hope they have unattentive guards.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 2:03

bfra, you think they had a chance and didn't? Maybe they suffered Stockholm Syndrom or something? I have a feeling they just were not given the chance. They could have been in chains for all we know.

By: Loner on 5/8/13 at 2:04

Sanford is a glaring hypocrite who worked the Christians like a conman...the rubes forgave him...but they will never forgive Bill Clinton, will they?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 2:05

I'm so happy the neighbor took action. So many people look the other way or don't want to get involved. Good for him for doing something!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 2:06

Loner, the people who believe the U.S. should be a "Christian" nation sure don't want their tax money feeding and housing the poor. Ironic, huh?

By: Loner on 5/8/13 at 2:10

Oh, there will be those who will blame the girls for their misfortune....apologists for sadistic rapists will come out of the woodwork....blaming the victim is an age-old human tendency....some will try to exploit this tragedy for financial or political gain.....it's part of who we are...we're just hominids on a mudball.

By: BenDover on 5/8/13 at 2:10

First we should help the 'Castro' brothers with a little added meaning to their names... then after a long trial while imprisoned in the general population of people who might like to see how sweet their sweet @$$s are; I say we do the usual. Zip tie their wrists to the bumper of a truck and then set the cruise control on 5mph

By: Rasputin72 on 5/8/13 at 2:13

LONER.........I laud your suggestion that states who do not contribute get left out.

I think that would be the catalyst that disolves the USA. Perhaps this disintegration wpuld make us both happy.

It certainly would be a very interesting thing to see unfold.

By: dargent7 on 5/8/13 at 2:17

Bud @3:01pm...."glad Sanford won...." The douche bag took off on a sexual bender, Appalatian Trail to Brazil, during Father's Day weekend. And he has 4 sons.
Piece of work? No. Piece of sh!t.

By: BenDover on 5/8/13 at 2:18

Pools are more dangerous than guns. It is disingenuous to say you want to save children and then waste time with guns rather than going after something substantially more harmful to kids. To do so illustrates the use of the tragedy of a child's death to achieve a political aim to remove guns from society; and not a genuine interest in saving as many children as possible from these tragedies.

By: BenDover on 5/8/13 at 2:26

The Democratic Republic of Tennessee sounds good to me.

By: bfra on 5/8/13 at 2:45

Ben - I guess you approve of using children to promote guns, as the NRA is doing. Pitiful!

By: bfra on 5/8/13 at 2:47

d7 - Amen on your 3:17PM comment! Repubs don't care how low life a person is, just so they are repubs or teabags.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 2:47

As the nation rejoices about the dramatic Cleveland rescue of three captive women, Rush Limbaugh is worried welfare will be given to a child also recovered healthy from her captors in what has to be the most cynical and disgusting reaction to a best case scenario kidnapping.

http://www.inquisitr.com/652529/rush-limbaugh-amanda-berry-welfare/

Stay classy.

By: bfra on 5/8/13 at 3:01

Blanket - Limbaugh is the lowest form of human flesh. However, he & Ben have a lot in common. They condone anything the teapubs do.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/8/13 at 3:16

I just read a report on the AP about the girls who were kidnapped. They had been chained and tied in the basement for years and had suffered several miscarriages among them. Those sick b@stards!!!!

I am finding it hard to believe that for 10 yrs., that is the only time 1 of the 3 had a chance to escape.

Ask Elizabeth Smart and Jaycee Dugart about "chances to escape" and get back with me bfra. Captivity for Jaycee was horrendous and she had 2 children. Who knows what the perp said and did; kept her in his backyard in a tent. And Elizabeth Smart was walking the streets with her captor - scared to death. You have never walked in their shoes. How dare you "find it hard to believe". How dare you. They were CHILDREN when they were taken - CHILDREN who were brainwashed by 40 something year old perps. Good grief. Man. One of these guys was friends with the child's father and they all helped to "search". What are you thinking? Adults can be scared into submission, so how easy was it for the perps to scare these young girls?

And dollars to donuts that these 50 something year old men didn't just start this pattern in their 40's; they replaced some older models with these younger ones - probably - when they kidnapped these children 10 years ago. Don't be so harsh till you or YOUR CHILD walks in their shoes.

By: budlight on 5/8/13 at 4:39

D7, I totally forgive Billy boy Clinton for committing adultry in the Oval office. And I forgive Sanford. Bill continued to Preside over the oval office. Personally I think Sanford should have stayed also. After all if a democrat in the highest office can do it, why not a Republican in a State office?

Remember what's good for the democrat is good for the republican. Everyone loves a repented sinner - except hypocrites, that is! Which one are you?

I agree with you Loner that something should be done to prevent children from finding guns. But outlawing them is not the answer. My own husband was shot in the neck at close range by his cousin. Hunting accident. Husband forgave cousin and husband moved forward to have a wonderful life - still respecting guns. Cousin, on the other hand was basket case - ran away to a life style of very dangerous behavior and died in early 40's of a preventable disease. Sad. Very sad.
