From the West Coast....big article on 'Foreclosures here in the Penninsula" in Sunay's paper.
People's homes they paid $400,000 in 2005 are now worth $200,000 and
the mortgage is still $1,800. a month, which they don't have.
The 'Wait List" for 'low income housing here is now CUT OFF at 25,000 people waiting.
Sylvan Park had the best 'affordable housing" at $250,000 a home.
But, they're tearing them all down and building plastic pieces of sh!t for $550,000.
All the 80 - 100 year old trees too, to do it.
Shameful.

You guys call me a racist because of my arguments on Barry usurping that office. After reading bfra's comment about her "visit to Memphis, is she a different breed of racists? Plus all of you that agree with her.

Gimme a break, racists.

"Toward that end, Dean announced his administration’s intention to establish an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that “will allow Metro government to take a more active role in creating affordable housing, encouraging rehabilitation of existing homes, maintaining affordability and building mixed-use, mixed-income developments.”

Sounds like Karl McSpendy has some friends who need to up their incomes in the building and rental areas.

What exactly is "affordable housing"? Glad you asked. To some it's being able to afford their mortgage, car payment and grocery bill along with utilities and phone. To the worshippers of Obama, it FREE - cause Obama said he's gonna pay for it all - just like their Daddy! So karl McSpendy wants the same probably.

Let the market level it all out.

Loner - Mother Nature is really working overtime in up State NY, putting 3 ft. of snow on the ground Memorial Day. So you have gotta have it better than that.

Nashville is behind because Dean has been spending every penny he could on building his ego shrines. People & public utilities that didn't serve his ego boosting remained at the very bottom of the list.

By: bfra on 5/28/13 at 8:51
OH! That bottom of the list, included "Education", regardless of what he said. Actions speak louder than words.

OMG for once you and I agree about Karl McSpendy!

By: bfra on 5/28/13 at 9:36

Those troll turds are smelly!

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 9:36

Is it Gore-effect snow.

By: Loner on 5/28/13 at 9:42

Hey, Darge...sorry to hear about the trees being cut down.

Too bad that folks are losing their homes....the Bush Melt Down is still effecting the economy. No doubt, most of those who paid 400K were hard core Republicans....there is some poetic justice in this, I suppose.

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 9:49

Boner: Wrong again, azzhat. The people losing their homes are the apes and white trash that the Feds required banks to lend to--despite having terrible or no credit, and no jobs.

All liberal, all the time. Spend others' money recklessly, then blame anybody but themselves for their mistakes.

I hate liberals, Boner. I hate you. Please let me know when your heart stops beating so I can yawn.

Yogi, they call you a racist because it's the only rebuttal their pea brains can come up with.

I know a woman (white) in Memphis who does fundraising for the "Black Arts" and has many people come to the receptions she hosts (both black & white). She told me that the white people come and eat, network and DONATE. She said that the "majority" of the black attendees come and "eat and network" but do not donate substantially to a BLACK cause. That speaks volumes to me. I do not think the wealthy black community supports the low end of the totem pole. Remember that some blacks are shunned because their skin is not dark enough.

LONER, "Bush Melt Down" Obama has had 5 years to fix it. What has he done?

By: dargent7 on 5/28/13 at 9:59

Loner:
Just on our corner, with 4 , 100 year old oak trees, all cut down to build this yellow house that sold for $550,000.
Our home was demolished in Oct. and all 5 trees, all different species, were cut down to shoe-horn in 2 homes where 2 duplexes stood. Both go for $500,000 and it's a joke.
Somebody has money in Nashville.
And 3 blocks up on Charlotte, there's a murder every month.

Central planners create bubble. Bubble bursts. Solution is to create another bubble.

It's consistent as clockwork.

The Conference Board, an industry group, said its index of consumer attitudes jumped to 76.2 from an upwardly revised 69 in April, topping economists' expectations for 71. It was the best level since February 2008.

That snow hit Whiteface Mountain, near the NY-VT border....that's the far East of NY...I live in the far West of NY....I Googled it, from my place to Whiteface is a distance of 309 miles.

We had a day last week in which it got up to 87F.....I figure that it's Mother Nature swaying to an Al Gore rhythm....but my math skills are not what they were.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) now says it will shrink to 4% of GDP in this fiscal year and 2.1% by 2015. No wonder Republicans would rather talk about the Internal Revenue Service and Benghazi than the budget.

Suddenly, the clown gets nasty and snarls at the audience:

I hate liberals, Boner. I hate you. Please let me know when your heart stops beating so I can yawn.

Jugs is channeling Don Rickles this morning?

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 10:10

Swaying?

Crazed Sex Poodles don't sway, loner.

They jolt and shiver.

btw, Obamacare is working in the states that set up the exchanges.

By: bfra on 5/28/13 at 10:14

Ben - You shouldn't talk about yogi like that, he is your bosom buddy.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 10:14

So things are gradually improving despite Mitch McConnell and his gang of clowns.

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 10:16

Krugman? Really? Hahahahahahahaha.....a little credibility issue there, Einstein.

Obamacare is a friggin DISASTER, and even the dems admit it. And, any life in the economy is folks seeing light at the end of the Obama tunnel. The criminal Marxist will be a gaywad lame duck until he's gone.

By: Loner on 5/28/13 at 10:18

Ben...Mother Nature is no "crazed sex poodle"....Al Gore might be....but Mother Nature is an older hippie woman...I know her....she's Wiccan, I believe....she had some great medical Cannabis at camp last year....after a couple of tokes, the old gal looked pretty damn good, for her age.....she knows how to roll...and how to shake that thing.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 10:19

Juggie thinks he knows more than Krugman - lol!

Williams County is in the wrong direction of Memphis.

There are no problem, only solution, Ben.

Why so much time spent with a flea?

Real Breaking News: World news - Israel

Headline:
Israel warns Russia against arming Syrian government

Subhead:
Israel's defence minister signals that its military is prepared to strike shipments of advanced Russian weapons to Syria

Snippet:
Russia has said it will supply one of its most advanced anti-aircraft missile systems to the Syrian government hours after the EU ended its arms embargo on the rebels, raising the prospect of a rapidly escalating proxy war in the region if peace talks in Geneva fail next month.

Source:

The arms bazaar is now open.....Qatar and the Saudis are arming the Jihadist Sunni rebels....the EU and the US will arm the secular rebels...Iran and Russia will arm the Shiite (Alawite) Assad regime....and Israel will take pot shots at whatever it thinks is a threat to the Jewish state, with no control over that from the POTUS....they control us, not the other way around.

Russia has a naval base on the Syrian Coast.....they are not about to give that up any more than we would give up Gitmo.

Remember, there's all that Sarin gas....tons of of it....and with Israel in on this, this thing could go nuclear quickly...Armageddon may be just around the corner

By: Loner on 5/28/13 at 10:56

Here we go again...wise-assed little brother steps forward, kicks the biggest bully on the block in the shins...then runs behind Uncle Sam's back.....oy!

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 11:15

Things are only improving because there is a glimmer of hope when Hussein leaves office.

He can then return to his native country and live off of gov't welfare the rest of his life. They honor dollars in Kenya, right?

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 11:16

Loner, don't speak of yourself in such a manner.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/28/13 at 11:41

Loner, you should google Last Babylon, by Pat Frank. It was written in19 59.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/28/13 at 11:45

bud if you don't stop posting on my dine, I will call your boss.

"That way I can enjoy down-town on occasion without paying the increasing tax tab or watching real property values decline."

I'm curious Ben, how do you justify this as being any different from others that you vilify for benefiting from the public sector without paying their way?

By: budlight on 5/28/13 at 11:57

I'm clocked out. But you can call them anytime you wish.

By: Loner on 5/28/13 at 12:02

"Alas Babylon", I believe is the title....yeah, anything could happen, Captain....lots of hot-heads in the region...lots of after-lifers on a mission.

A Sarin-gas warhead on a Syrian Scud or two hitting Tel Aviv, for example could result in Israel nuking Damascus....and a whole bunch of other cities, if that were to happen....the Samson Option might kick in.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 12:08

brrrrk, quit asking trick questions - lol!

By: bfra on 5/28/13 at 12:09

Why go to work, if you stay clocked out all the time?

By: Captain Nemo on 5/28/13 at 12:14

bud has been clock out for two hours. LOL

By: Captain Nemo on 5/28/13 at 12:16

Your right Loner. I made a yogi, but you get the idea.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 12:36

You didn't answer the primary question, which is.... how is it any different?

Blanketnazi2 said

"What do you consider to be obscenely high marginal income tax?"

Whatcha wanna bet Ben quotes the 35% figure that we always hear from the right.... but that no one actually pays.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 12:45

Exactly, brrrrk.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/28/13 at 12:47

brrrrk, I'll bet yogi's brains that he does not. :-)

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 1:00

An example off a working professional couple where they pay all of the second income in the 25%, 28% and 33% brackets in addition to another 1.25% Medicare; plus another 6.5% FICA on the first ~$110K of both incomes seems obscenely high to me.

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 1:10

For D'arge.

shb-> 1.5% and 6.25% for Medicare and FICA, respectively.

By: brrrrk on 5/28/13 at 1:16

Boo hoo, Ben.....

By: brrrrk on 5/28/13 at 1:22

Ben, why you must be down to drinking generic Evian and eating no name caviar... THE HORROR!!!!

By: bfra on 5/28/13 at 1:25

brrrrk - Ditto on the boo hoo, Ben. He doesn't know what high taxes are.

By: brrrrk on 5/28/13 at 1:27

Ben seems to be the living, breathing example of Twain's quote....

"The man who is born stingy can be taught to give liberally-with his hands; but not with his heart. The man born kind and compassionate can have that disposition crushed down out of sight by embittering experience; but if it were an organ the postmortem would find it in his corpse."

It appears that empathy, if not born with it, is beyond the means of even some of the wealthiest.... :-)
