Do you believe the plan for affordable housing is something that will work long-term or is more a short-term fix?

Ben, you're not counting in the deductions a person with that income would have.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 2:31

Also you need to take into consideration tax deferred investments.

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 2:35

Yes I am.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 2:36

I call foul.

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 2:38

You guys see the state as a vehicle for charity. It's nothing of the sort. It inhibits one's ability to be charitable because you can only truly be charitable with that which you have earned.

By: brrrrk on 5/28/13 at 2:39

Something to consider....

We are often told by the right that if corporate taxes are raised, the tax increases would be passed on to the consumer. If this is truly the case, then what difference does it makes what corporate taxes are? If he right is correct, corporations will end up with the same amount of money regardless..... and if so, what do they care?

Ben - Where do you think people get what they donate to charity. Grow it in the chicken yard?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 2:48

Ben, you already stated that you would like to go downtown and enjoy things without having to pay the taxes to have them. So, the taxes helped fund good things for Nashville - that's not charity.

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 2:49

What magic deductions do you think a two earner professional household has blanket? They start phasing out personal deductions around $250K. Aside from mortgage interest (which thankfully I will not have anymore when we sell the condo) and charitable contributions, what is there?

It's a pretty sweet deal up 'til about the first $50K but then it goes through the roof.

401K is just deferred taxes that don't make sense because my tax rates will likely be higher when I retire so I only put in up to the employer match. Roth's are good because they grow tax free but it's after-tax income you put into them so there's no income tax deduction there.

They will be needs testing all the FICA by the time I get ready to collect so that's all just a big black hole.

Where are all these 'deductions' you speak of?

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 2:53

It hurts the ability of our goods to compete on the world market brrrrk.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 2:57

Ben, what about all your charitable donations????

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 2:58

Because we know in the last decade corporate taxes went up and profits hit drop bottom

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 2:59

for some reason my *sarcasm* comment didn't come through above.

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 2:59

3/4th of what I give away doesn't qualify because it's help to individuals.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:01

So, you give money to your friends and that's charity?

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 3:04

Of course it is... friends and family. Though it's not deductible.

What deductions are you talking about that the evil rich are taking advantage of? I need in on some of that.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:09

Well, what about those Tea Party folks who were setting up false non-profits? And I don't call giving money to my friends and family "charity." Most people don't.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:09

Ben, don't tell me you don't tip either!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:11

So, Ben wants to enjoy the nice things downtown without having to pay taxes and he thinks when he gives friends and family money he should be able to write it off. Unbelievable! LOL

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 3:15

I think I like Ben. Don't tell anyone.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:16

Jug, you want his chorizo to scramble your huevos, right?

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 3:16

Al Gore is the KING of fake non-profits and channeling tax dollars (billions) through them. And, you stupid libs fell hook, line and sinker for his global warming crap.

Liberals are mentally ill. That's the only explanation.

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 3:17

I'm a monster tipper, Blanket... when the servers get the shaft, I'm the redeemer.

I sure wish I could deduct that too.

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 3:18

No, blankshooter, I want yours. But, I sold my microscope years ago so I guess you'll never create memories.

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 3:20

Blacks are experts at fake nonprofits and giggle when libtards donate to them...so the stupid libtard white can feel "better" about themselves.

The good news is that the donations are recycled through lottery and beer sales.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:29

I'm sure you do, Ben.

By: brrrrk on 5/28/13 at 3:38

Let's all give Ben the proverbial pat on the back and one attaboy.....

As the bard once said, "Thou dost protest.... "

Wow, it's a shame self praise isn't deductible....

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:43

I guess Christmas presents should be tax deductible too, Ben? LOL

I would be afraid that every gift from Ben has a string attached..... and that at any time he'd be more than willing to pull it.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 3:49

Damn, he's so tight I bet his butt squeaks when he walks - lol!

By: bfra on 5/28/13 at 3:51

I'm willing to bet Ben deducts every penny he can & a lot he shouldn't. Braggarts are the sleezest!

As behavioral economist Mark Wilhelm of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis pointed out, most people could quickly tell you how much they paid in taxes last year but few could put a dollar amount on how they benefited from government by, say, driving on interstate highways, taking drugs gleaned from federally funded medical research, or using inventions created by people educated in public schools.

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 4:03

No wonder the leeches on this pathetic forum discourage anyone from wanting to avoid taxation. They'd have no Wonder bread and Xanax if Ben did not fund it.

Lazy pukes.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 4:11

Hey, Ben. You have a new BFF!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/28/13 at 4:18

Don't get your hopes up, Juggy. Ben is way out of your league. He's way too smart for you.

By: Jughead on 5/28/13 at 4:45

Blanketbomb: Wanna loofa my stretchmarks, libtard?

By: bfra on 5/28/13 at 4:58

Blanket I will disagree with your 4:18PM comment. They sound like a good fit to me!

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 5:18

"behavioral economist" Whew boy... the Frankfurt School has been quite fruitful hasn't it.

By: BenDover on 5/28/13 at 5:18

Gotta run. Y'all have a nice afternoon.

By: yogiman on 5/28/13 at 7:44

You 'sound' like a good fit to be a racist to me, too, bfra. You proved it by letting it be known you don't go to the races in Memphis anymore because there's was only 6 whites there when you was there and only 4 was in your group. So you don't want to go because there is so many more Negroes there instead of Caucasians.

So you're afraid of the other fans because of their race? And you ain't a racist? Gimme a break, bfra.

Blanket it is being charitable when one gives anything to anyone. My flaming liberal brother just got back from his European vacation; drives a paid for mercedes and is well off to say the least. He sent me some Omaha steak packages in 2012 (2 or 3) and told me that is the way the rich pass it down to the less fortunate. I bet he does not want to pay higher taxes though.

I give away too much money to the less fortunate and most of it is not a tax write off. My tithes are but we also give offering, plus Nashville Rescue Mission, Salvation Army and of course the Nashville Humane Society. We get some reasonable write offs, but I think that after $200,000 or $250,000 folks don't get them.

Going to zzzzzzzzzzzzzz-land now.

What a bore bud is. She even puts herself to sleep with her ...tall tails. (sic)

By: bfra on 5/29/13 at 7:58

She does have some TALL tales, 1 about every & any subject put on the board.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/29/13 at 8:10

I think bud has regain her troll status.

By: budlight on 5/29/13 at 8:29

Well it looks like the trash talkers woke up early. If nemo or bfra tell a tale, they think it's of epic value. But if someone else shares, they ridicule it and run them down. Oh well. What can we expect from such liberal haters?

Yogi, et al have a nice day. Going to punch in on the gov-ment time clock at 9:30 a.m. and punch out at 2:30 p.m. Nice bankers hours. I love that job.
