Who do you foresee running for and eventually taking over the state Senate seat soon to be vacated by Sen. Douglas Henry?

Nemo is a wonderful dad and I'm sure he was a good husband. He's a good egg. 8-)

Anyone who avoided service in the Vietnam War should not be condemned for it...as it turned out, as Darge said, it was a BS war....a waste of time, troops & treasure...another bogus war courtesy of a Texan POTUS....no mas!

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 11:00

So, BenDover...why don't you run for the District 21 Senate seat?

You have a good resume, right? No scandals, right? Are at the upper middle class income level, right? And you are Republican in a red state.....and more than articulate enough to pull it off...so, what's stopping you?

I'd come down there and help run your campaign...of course, I'd want some of the spoils of war...."Senatorial Aide" sounds like a nice title.....whadya say?

Loner:
Republicans get into their daddy's alma mater as a legacy.
Both Clinton and Obama were fatherless, no legacy, and did it on brains and commitment.
Repubs fear superiority intellectual types and it shows.

True dat, Darge....Barack Hussein Obama won the election, in spite of his name, not because of it.

But, if BHO's daughter(s) or his wife should run for office down the road, the situation would be reversed, of course....Obama made a name for himself and his family...Bravo, BHO...but let's not start an Obama dynasty...thanks for your service, sir.

Obama had 2 daddies and a grandfather in Hawaii. His mother was married to 2 muslims, So he was not fatherless. D7, stop spreading untruths. He did it on smoke and mirrors.

Let me add this, if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic candidate for POTUS in 2016, I will officially leave the Democratic Party....bookmark this page.....I will not assist in the slide, as the USA becomes a banana republic, along the lines of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos, in the Philippines and the other phony democracies ruled by royal families.

Sorry, Bill & Hillary: NO BANANAS!!

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 11:35

Robert "Bob" Dole and his wife Elizabeth was enough...please, no more tag team action.

Speaking of political power couples, right now, in Venezuela, a new dynamic duo is in power. Here's a snippet & link:

"He is a burly former bus driver and high school-drop-out, a devout socialist trained in Cuba but also loyal to a Hindu mystic, who is now in charge of the nation with the world's largest oil reserves.

She is his long-time partner, an ambitious lawyer and skilled political operator who steered her companion's rise to the top even as she attained high office in her own right.

And Nicolas Maduro and Cilia Flores, both 50, are now the most powerful political couple in Latin America after he was sworn in as acting president of Venezuela late on Friday evening - under the proud gaze of the new first lady, who also happens to be the country's attorney-general."

Thanks Loner and Blanket.

Now as Willie would say I'm back on the road again.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 11:46

Loner,

You can't officially win an election you aren't legally eligible to enter. And for the president's race you must be a natural born American citizen; which your man Barry ain't.

I hate to repeat this, but you don't even know if he's an American citizen or ever has been. I'm still waiting to be proven wrong.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 12:03

Argentina is well known for husband-wife power couple politics...remember Juan & Eva Peron?

The tradition lives on today, Sen. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, wife of Nestor Kirchner, Argentina's former president, went on to become president of Argentina in her own right...she's still in power....and she is a knock-out beauty too....stunning.

Do we want that method and style of leadership here in the USA? I certainly hope not...but some would opt for hitting the "Easy Button" in politics....folks like (Mrs.) Hillary Clinton's supporters.....No Mas!

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 12:11

That's not my district, Loner. Raspy can run for it though.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 12:18

My condo is in 19 where Thelma's thoroughly entrenched due to her snappy head-wear. My other house is in 20 where there's some doctor I couldn't hope to depose and probably wouldn't want to. I sure hope the ambulance chaser who ran against Henry in the primary last time isn't elected. He's way too popular with the Occupy crowd for my tastes.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 12:31

Ben, I forgot the name of the person who ran against him. Dang it....

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 12:39

Jeff Yarbro

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 12:46

Oh yeah, that guy.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 12:47

He creeps me out.

By: Loner on 5/9/13 at 1:11

Is SoBro in the 21st, Ben...I hope so...if so, here we go:

Yarborough from Scarborough grabbed his carpet-bags.
Now Yarbro, from SoBro will face the Tea-bags?

Should we go from there?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 1:26

So Holleman just through his hat in. I'm not crazy about him but he's OK. I mostly agree with what he has done.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 1:27

omg....s/h/b "threw in his hat." My bad.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 1:33

Nah... it's 19 Loner. Thelma 'hat check' Harper. My other house is in 20.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 1:34

Ben, does Harper's on Jefferson belong to her family?

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 1:35

Not bustin' on Thelma. She's a pretty common sense voice in the Senate and she works her ass off and looks after her constituents. I worry about Doug leaving but I can't imagine what would replace Thelma. They could just rename the district Memphis North probably.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 1:36

I don't know Blanket.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 1:38

I heard Hollerman was on the short list. Don't know much about him.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 1:43

He's the councilman that is working on the roundabout in Sylvan Park.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 1:45

The one at Korean vets, 8th and Lafayette turned out really nice.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 1:46

... well nice just so long as they don't put up any nekkid dancers, anyway.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 1:48

Yeah, but that's different from putting one on Murphy Rd in a mostly residential area. It ran off Sylvan Park Diner. I have mixed feelings about it, really. On one hand I can see how it could be visually attractive but I'm not sure if it's the best idea for that intersection. And I hate the idea that it caused the closing of a privately owned local business.

By: BenDover on 5/9/13 at 2:06

I have not seen that one BN.... where's it at?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 2:10

It's not built yet but it's been approved. I'm not sure when construction begins.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 5/9/13 at 2:10

It's going to replace the traffic light at 46th & Murphy Road.

Bud @ 12:24:
Clinton's real father died when he was freekin' two.
Obama's real Dad stayed in Kenya while Mom traveled to Hawai'i to have him.
He was raised by his grandmother and step dad.
My point wasn't whether their mothers' re-married, joined the Scientologists, Hare Krishnas, or became Nuns.
The point was, and is, they are self made men. On their OWN.
GW Bush was given a freekin' baseball team Texas Rangers before he was 40.
He was inducted into the secret Skull & Bones Society at Yale.
His Dad was a 2x VP then a 1x President. You know how many Negroes are in that secret society? ZERO. How many blacks became President before Obama "fooled everyone"? ZERO.
Romney's Dad was President of American Motors (Rambler, Javalin, Gremilin) then Govern. of Michigan. Then Secretary of HUD. Everyone knew the name Romney. Barack Hussein Obama had to overcome INCREDIBLE odds to get where he's been.
Their DADs were the original, OEM, Dads.
Clinton & Obama's had RE-placements, step- fathers. Not the same.
Get it?
To say Obama has reached where he is today is like saying Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "sold out" the blacks for fame and fortune.
Obama's achievements are due to Smoke and Mirrors...? You're on crack ...or should be free-basing to say such sh!t.

By: budlight on 5/9/13 at 3:06

D7, Obama was voted into office because of his race, not his accomplishments. What did he do? As a Senator, he only voted "present'; he never held a real job and he was not wealthy. He has become wealthy BECAUSE of the presidency. You are one of the jealous crowd; jealous of other people's wealth. Obama has not achieved anything except to make our country unsafe at this time. On Bush's watch, after 911, we had no terrorist attacks. On obama's we've had many, including Fort Hood. And now Boston. That was preventable. I don't do drugs. Martin Luther King Jr. was a real hero unlike phoney baloney man Barrack who is always golfing, playing basketball, sticking his nose where it does not belong or grand standing and getting attention every which way he can, including praising a man for coming out of the closet who's basketball career was gray at best.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 3:08

Ben your 1:11 post says for Raspy to run for the 21st district. It won't work, because he would have to get off his lazy ass, and no one likes him.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 3:10

Tell the truth ,bud. You voted against him because of his race. Are you posting on tax payers time?

By: bfra on 5/9/13 at 3:21

Just check bud's comments today! That old girl wouldn't know which end was up, if the directions was on her big belly. Everything she puts on the board is babble & most of the time a repeat of the same.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 3:37

Hey, B2,

You're so quick to 'correct' me when I make an error, how about correcting yourself? Did you mean "through his hat in", or [threw his hat in] when commenting about Holleman entering the race?

By: bfra on 5/9/13 at 3:48

yogi you dumbass, she corrected herself. Oh! I forgot, without a brain you can't read.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 3:52

dargent7,

You must have gotten different information than I. You posted Barry's 'real dad' stayed in Kenya while his mom went to Hawaii to have him.

First: If Barack Hussein Obama is his father, he could only be born with dual-citizenship, certainly not natural born citizenship.

But I hear his mother wanted to have him in Hawaii. She went to Kenya to meet Barack's family an the "time" come when she was going to have him. She tried to fly to Hawaii but the airline wouldn't let her on the place because they didn't want a baby born on their plane.

That being the case, he was born in Kenya as a British subject because at her age his mother could not pass her American citizenship down to him.

So do we have a British subject or an Indonesian citizen in our Oval Office? It sure as hell can't be a natural born American citizen.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 3:57

You must be on a different system than I, bfra. I looked for a correction but didn't see one when I made my remark.

Ah well, we "outsiders" can't equal y'all, can we?

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 3:58

Old Sheriff Roy had an illegitimate black son name Paul.

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 4:01

You were born a moron, yogi and have gotten to be more so.

By: yogiman on 5/9/13 at 4:02

You, know, bfra,

You're so quick to correct me when I'm wrong, and you have constantly "corrected" me accusing me of being wrong on my comments about Barack Obama's (if that's his name" Constitutional eligibility for the Oval Office, but all you seem to be able to do is accuse, not prove.

How about proving me wrong?

By: Captain Nemo on 5/9/13 at 4:03

That is right yogi. You can't relate to the human race.
Troll breath.
